SURPRAISE INTERNET IS WIN!!

Fuck yessss, for Silvia, Andi and Sara heading off for some quality family ski time, thus freeing up their living room AND MODEM!!!!!! for yours truly to get her internet fix. But this was also highly unexpected, so I have naught to offer but a recounting/bitchery of yesterday's events AKA MY WORST TRAVEL DAY EVER, HOLY FUCKING SHITSTICKS.

For reference, this was my original train travel plan: leave Vienna at 10:20, get to Salzburg at 13:00 ish, get the transfer train to Zell am See shortly after 15:00 and then hop on to the bus there until Krimml and finally arrive at my grandparents place at 16:45. Sounds simple, right? IT NORMALLY KIND OF IS.

............YET YESTERDAY I ENDED UP IN KRIMML AT NEARLY 19:30. Why? It was almost a lovely showing of the domino-effect style havoc that one simple train delay can produce. The train from Vienna was five minutes late and I spent around the same time running around the Salzburger Hauptbahnhof in a disorientated panic because I suddenly couldn't find the listing where all the trains were. Enough time for me to miss my connecting to Zell. SECOND ULTIMATE HORROR SCENARIO RE:TRAVEL, START (first one would be losing my luggage sajkhfs *shudders*). I flail a bit and go and check for the next train, which turned out to be one that would have me switch trains again at Schwarzach St. Veit before getting to Zell. 'Okay, acceptable choice', I figured. I went and bought some snacks and some English CQ to ease my pain(7€ FOR A MARGINALLY BETTER MOOD WERE SO WORTH IT) and settled down to wait for the half hour.

That turned out to be more than that because the second train was ALSO delayed. By 25 minutes. Which in turn meant, that I had also missed the connecting train to Zell once I got to Schwarzach. And the train to Schwarzach was SO FUCKING FULL, a bunch of other passengers and I had to basically make our way from one end to the other to find some seats, and let me tell you, moving in a train is normally already not such a fun thing to do, but it is SHEER HELL with a fully loaded luggage trolley, a duffel bag and a laptop bag. AWKWARD SIDEWARDS SHUFFLESTEP IS GOOO. I knocked into people and their luggage! I nearly fell onto someone's table whilst trying to traverse the food and drinks carriage! I got stuck between seats sometimes! AND ALL THE WHILE, this really creepy smarmy Turkish (??) short dude starts trying to chat me up.

TD:"Oh hello, where are you from :> :>?"
SHAZ:"*oh jesus christ spare me now*.....VIENNA."
TD:"Oh are you sure? You look Chinese! Or Mongolian! Do you speak Chinese? :> :>"
SHAZ:"....NO I AM NOT CHINESE. YES I AM SURE. ALL VIENNESE, ALL THE WAY *wheezes, hauling bags is heavy*"
TD."Why are you travelling?"
SHAZ:".......HOLIDAY."
TD:"Oooh where is that going to be :> :>?"
SHAZ:"......SCHWARZACH" etc etc he kept asking these questions in an intensely creepy-friendly way and uhjfgajhgf ugggh I was already on my last tether re: the whole situation and because it was so cramped I couldn't exactly escape. EVENTUALLY I MANAGED TO FIND ONE FREE CABIN SEAT THOUGH, so it was good bye and good riddance, creepy dude! WHY CAN'T I EVER GET HIT ON MY HOT GUYS, bawwwwwwww. Also: MONGOLIAN, what the bleeding fuck??
Note to self: next time lie and say that you're American or something.

But anyways, once I was in Schwarzach, MOAR WAITING happened (surprise!). When I finally reached Zell, it was already dark and the light drizzle that was happening throughout the day started getting a bit stronger. I had missed the once an hour bus to Krimml too, and had to wait AGAIN for the next one. AND I NEARLY MISSED THAT ONE, because it was also delayed by 15 minutes and I really had to go to the bathroom and finally couldn't take it anymore. So of course the moment I leave the Dönershop I popped in to use the toilet briefly, the fucking bus is already there and nearly everyone has already gotten in. EFFFF. AT LEAST OMA MADE ME WARM INSTANT NOODLE SOUP. AND SPECKBROT. I NEEDED THAT SPECKBROT.

But seriously, fucking hell have I never had such a craptastic travel experience before. So much for my original plan to spend the train-ride writing cards and getting some uni reading done. The first bit to Salzburg was spent chilling in the 1st class (TICKET UPGRADE WOO) and chatting with my seat neighbor, who by some weird twist of fate also was studying PKW (but in Salzburg). And lol, after Salzburg? I was basically just sitting and seething in barely suppressed rage, crankiness, tiredness and chewing chewing gum like a crazy person. MY SHOULDERS ARE STILL SORE, MY BACK STILL HURTS. EFF *whines*

ALSO OLGA THANKS FOR SMSING WITH ME BB, I needed to vent my raaaaaaaaage at someone! How was the TH fangirl-infested party??

But in other news, Krimml is as pretty in a total wintry country-side wonderland as always, my relatives are also the same, Sara is still inexplicably fascinated with me and now wants to 'teach me Pinzgäurisch', as the high German I speak to everybody is Not Up To Her Four-Year Old Standards, lolol. WILL SHE SUCCEED WHERE COUNTLESS OTHERS HAVE FAILED?? I just really feel weird and embarrassing trying to mimic the dialect here, can understand it well enough of course, but actually trying it? Lol no, I'd sound like Fakey Mcfakerson. The Christmas/holiday cards will all be sent off tomorrow (LOL WHOOPS), wanted to get em all done today but I apparently overslept a bit, thus losing my bit of morning advantage and then it was time for lunch already. Which is also the time the Post bus drives away, GOD DAMN YOU POSTBUS!!

Am already curious how well I will get with my various academic To-do's, but have also made a list of fandom things I need to get done ([livejournal.com profile] jorajo! Have not forgotten your pic, am just slow as fuck atm, sorry DD:) and hopefully headway shall be made on both areas~

OH AND BTW, this is also basically a ~*SEMI HIATUS~* declaration, as I truly will have no idea when I can beg off the next few hours of net in the following days. Here's hoping there will be a lot of skiing in store for Sara?? KEEP ME POSTED ON WHAT HAPPENS ON THE INTERNETS PEOPLE PLZZZ D:
