Here be my art for the lovely

purequicksilver's adorable RPS J2 fic, I Dream of Jared.

This year's BB arting main theme for me was "EMBRACE THE COLO-- PIIINK AGAIN" and "stylize, stylize, stylize!". I sure as hell had a fun time drawing all of these (the subject matter alone proved irresistable), and I hope I can somehow convey a bit of happy and good cheer to y'all as well~.

The title banner:

...One of the first things I noticed on my initial image-google recon for this year's art was how adorable the original "I Dream of Jeannie" title card was. So, I basically figured why improve on an already awesome thing, and just gave it my own stylized spin and ~update (mainly just MOAR EYESEARING COLORS plz + handdrawing & embellishing the letters to my liking). Went for the chibi-esque art here because at this early point of things my brain was unwilling to picture a full-grown Jared in all his beefcake glory in the genie costume without breaking out in giggles. I do regret that I don't have the ace anatomy skills to draw a more RL version for ultimate lulz, so everyone will just have to picture that for themselves!

The in-fic illus:
NUMBER ONE:

...JARED COVERED IN KITTENS! There's a bit mentioned where Jensen brings Jared to see all the sights and sounds of his RL, including the animal shelter where he/Misha works at, and this is one of the first and most vivid ideas I had when thinking about what to illustrate, though I did have to run it by

purequicksilver if it actually happened in her story or not. At the very least it could be a scene that happens off-screen, lol. I MEAN, HOW COULD THE KITTENS RESIST, amirite? Regardless, it amused me and I had fun drawing the kittens (thank you, Giant Book of Cats in my mom's office) and thinking of how to tie Jared's "casual" wear to his genie costume. Also: just picture Jensen somewhere just out of frame grinning soppily or something.

NUMBER TWO:

...As I was starting to feel vaguely paranoid if the kitten scene actually existed and Mone was just too polite to crush my delusions, I decided that the easiest way to at least somewhat solve the problem would be to draw MOAR. So here are some little scenes that at least have more basis in the fic's reality. Jared being introduced to the power of the slushie AKA Real World food&drink! Jared being a whiz at cleaning! Jared realizing that naked!showering Jensen is major hotsauce (O RLY). ...Or at least these can be said to be only flavored with just a smidge of that good old ~*~artistic license~*~. I mainly just wanted to draw Jared making that brainfreeze face though, ngl.

The divider/header:

...the bottle is thematic! And okay, I felt like using it again after all the unnecessary time I spent on the detailing, only to then resize it to eensy proportions anyways. THINKING AHEAD: NOT SOMETHING I DO VERY OFTEN :|b

THINGS I LEARNED THIS YEAR:
- I SERIOUSLY HAVE NO TIME-MANAGEMENT SKILLS, and woahhh moving internationally + starting a new 8hrs a day desk-job really does cut into one's free time. Especially when life is being distracting and throwing things like THE WORLD CUP! SGA FIC! OTHER FIC! and okay, RL social obligations in your way, too XD
- Shading and clothing folds are still haaaaaard
- Colors will always be my FOREVER GIRL... I swear one day I will try and challenge myself with no cutesy-ness and like a limited palette of 3 shades max...

laulan (and

cheshire_tabby) get massive props and eternal loooooooove for being ace cheerleaders and always having a ear to listen to me whine and stare at whatever WIP stage I was at, be it in form of Blackberry screenshots sent off at 3AM or actualfax pictures, so ILU LADIES! As it was last year, I also have some RL People Who Will Never Read This and So It Shall Be that helped, or at least offered vaguely confused input (eg. "...it's very... pink?" "...thanks, Dad.") to thank, so yay for them. Muchas gracias to our Modly Ones for organizing this year's challenge as well!

And perhaps most importantly, I owe pretty much everything to the computer wizards who fixed my laptop and saved all the data I thought was LOST FOREVER (BACK SHIT UP is a lesson I had to learn nearly the hard way, ahhh) when my harddisk crashed in early June. LOVE FOR EVERYONE *flings confetti*!

EDIT: Apparently there is some kind of fuckery with regards to seeing all the pics. AM ON IT RIGHT NOW augh man, I swear I can use LJ you guys! PLEASE HOLD THE LINE.

SON OF EDIT: ALL IN THE CLEAR NOW. Looks like I was just wee bit too overzealous in marking every single picture as private in my scrapbook settings, whoops! Sorry for the delay + dumbassery. CARRY ON.
