kaiserkuchen: (Iron Man! Giddy-up cowboy)
Again, it has been way too long since I last posted! So much for being good and sticking to one of my admittely many futile new year's resolutions. Super duper compressed update though, as it is midnight and I need to be up in less than 5 hours FUCKKKKK

WORK: BUSY! April was especially hellish re: events and GUESS WHAT LAST WEEK WE SIGNED UP FOR TWO MORE kjdhfkjhsdf sweet baby jeebus I am turning into an event planner now? Work continues to consume most of my active attention and I am starting to drop balls in the intricate juggling act that makes up my myriad and seemingly ever-growing responsibilities. The balls seem to be normal balls and and not explosive-rigged ones yet though, so there is that. Tomorrow one of our overseas distributors will be in the office and I will have to figure out a way to tell him why I haven't had the time to do the things for him he requested from me sighhhh.

LIFE: I am now 24! Totally and utterly in my mid-twenties now, which is still a very strange thing to get used to. I still feel like I need to embark on a vision quest or something to get the last badge of official young adulthood (and by that I mean a dude to bang or I guess ~SPEND MEANINGFUL TIME WITH~), but ehhh fuck that THERE IS NO TIME. My birthday fell on a Monday and ended up being a most excellent day at the office-- didn't really expect or want anything save for maybe some well-wishes from the colleagues but I got presents! The sales team gave me two amazing pairs of earrings, our intern gave me a donut-shaped cord holder, our designer gave me a futuristic coin purse and spa boss bought me CAAAAAAAAAKE! And I bought donuts for the office and then there was another farewell cake for the intern (her last day) and there was really too much food. Especially since I had tapas tapas TAPAS + wine and dinner with Dad, Sue and their friends afterwards, too. FOOD COMA.

FANGIRLING: Part of the reason why I have been bad at posting is because I bought myself a kindle fire and have actually just been using it to look at Facebook on a larger screen before bed and also uh READ ALL THE FIC. I am still super against typing on touch-screens, and I keep swiping something my accident that ERASES EVERYTHING I WROTE BEFORE kjshfdjhgajshfghg FUCK!!!! so uh, don't hold your breath expecting many mobile posts from me soon.

I DID watch The Avengers and Cabin in The Woods these past two weekends though, so I am ALL AFLUTTER WITH FEELS and great fannish love. Especially the Avengers-- I did not expect to come out of it having that many Natasha and Bruce feelings. They better be making a Black Widow movie and then it could tie in with the Winter Soldier and the Captain America movies and then back into the Avengers sequels AND THEN MY MIND WOULD BURST FROM THE AMAZING, THE END.

Also someone talk to me about Cabin and SPOILERSSS in the comments-- how great was it seeing those tropes subverted? I still crack up thinking about it days afterwards.

OOF this got longer than expected okay okay leaving noww---

Baaack!

kaiserkuchen: (Glee! Horatio Caine can suck it)
Well okay, I've technically been back since Tuesday and didn't even make a holiday hiatus post in the first place (I HAD ONE PAINSTAKINGLY TYPED OUT ON FUCKING LIVEJOURNAL MOBILE ON MY BB AT THE AIRPORT, but of course that shit never works when you try to post ughhhhh).

So! Recap: I was in Hanoi, Vietnam meeting my dear old friend La from the 4th to the 8th of this month. Vietnam was quite the experience and not as empty as we feared over Tet/Vietnamese New Year. It was actually more like, INSANELY PACKED AND LOUD lolol and it is always weird for me to actually have that touristy feel of not understanding a single word of the local language when I travel. Most of the time I did either speak some form of the languages there or it was possible to kiiiind of guess at word meanings, but Vietnamese really was beyond my ken lolol. We had lots of awkward and/or random conversations with shopkeepers, waiters and our receptionist guy and muddled through everything. It's also the reason we sometimes ate truly strange and not really ~traditional Vietnamese food~ as planned, as we'd either inadvertently want to order breakfast foods at dinner, order things that were all out and as a result just randomly point at some of the weirdly translated food listings. Fact: THE HANOI BEER IS DELICIOUS THOUGH. And I say this as a person who normally really dislikes beer!

Will be working on uploading pictures soon and of course have all the postcards to sort out for people :DD. Everything was pretty cheap and I didn't really buy much besides an extra small poster, so I kind of went crazy with the postcards instead. The propaganda poster-based ones are simply so amazing!

...and I'd write more, but my eyes are nearly welded shut on me rn and I just wanted to at least post something on LJ again. LATERS, MY PRETTIES <33

PS AHHHH SO MUCH TV I AM TRYING TO CATCH UP ON! HAWAII 5-0! COMMUNITY! WHICO! GLEE! Re: that last one-- I take it back, my one true Puck pairing is now Puck/Lauren. MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR REALS, GLEE CREATORS. She is just unbelievably awesome. And we are getting more Kurt/Blaine action! Was halfway cringing through the GAP serenade bit, but I like Blaine's veneer of ~always knowing best~ being chipped away and him and Kurt approaching more equal footing with each other. AND AFTER A BIT OF PLOT DEVELOPMENT, MOVE STRAIGHT TO THE MAKE-OUTS PLEASE. It is becoming kind of weird that Blaine gets all the Warbler numbers though, as much as I love Darren Criss and his performances, this does fly against the Warbler borg motto of ONE VOIIIIIIIIICE and all that. AH WELL.
kaiserkuchen: (STrek (C)! Give us a smile bb)
Though most people try to at least offer better quality pics lolll you guys, I THINK THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING OFF WITH MY BLACKBERRY PICTURE TAKING SKILLS. So uh, preemptive apologies for the graininess.

But before I continue, here have a picture that is at least somewhat okay-- the fantastic dessert spread that Dad brought for dinner yesterday from the Oriental bakery. Clockwise, starting from noon: Vanilla Bourbon (+white choc mousse & cake bottom), blueberry cheesecake, lemon tart, The Wave (giant macaroon with lychee cream and a raspberry center) and I forgot the name of the last one, but it had white chocolate and layers of cream, blackberry and raspberry.

And now, barring whatever I will probably still buy tomorrow (I HAVE 6 MORE KILOS OF WEIGHT FOR MY LUGGAGE, but no room lololol tragedy!), MY SHOPPING HAUL SO FAR:
Dresses like woah + bling )

APROPOS OF NOTHING, I have chewed enough gum the past few hours that my jaw hurts like the dickens. You all needed to know that, I'm sure.
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! Angelic food cravings (C))
The past three days of BKK were filled with ups and downs, of which the downs were documented through that lovely outlet of Twitter. I still have a post in me about that that I might post tomorrow or later, but I feel that it shouldn't be smooshed in with this. Because don't get me wrong, this weekend was also filled with joy and awesome and the fact that I now truly recognize how Dad's actions speak louder than just plain words. HE FEEDS ME WITH LOVE.

One of the only requests that I had coming over was that I wanted steak. Figured we'd just head for a steak-house one night or something, but little did I expect the foodapalooza that was awaiting.

SAT: OM NOM )

SUN: NOM NOM NOM )

TL;DR: HAVING A CHEF FOR A DAD IS THE BEST THING EVER.

TODAY: Well, I was thinking about seeing if I could finagle a last-minute meet-up with someone in the roughly four hours I had in town before I had to leave for the airport, and I am somewhat ashamed to say I went FUCK THIS I WANNA SHOP. And well, shop I did! Now that the haze of intense shopping madness has somewhat died down, I remain quite happy with my haul.
What 3000 Baht and around 3 hours can get you in Siam & MBK )
kaiserkuchen: (ETC! OH SNAP SNAP SNAP)
I can has a sad that these precious days of being slob are again numbered. I had all these plans of Facial! Massage! Go to the gym to make up for missing Friday (DAMMIT but my PT wasn't there anyways and I am so lax on my own, ahh I BLAME THE SURPRISE EARLY SHIFT CHANGE)! What did I end up doing? Spending way too much time online of course, though I got some delightful phone calls with RL friends here and skyping with Carmen and others in. Carmen is now basically the one of us living up the 20-something life. She goes out occasionally! There are Hot Dudes of Interest vying for her affection! And I am basically on the edge of my seat going TELL ME MOAAAAR as we skype XDD. I am just so super pleased for her, and it is high time that dudes finally recognize the hot slice of fabulous my dear BFF is ♥

Did get some quality mother-daughter time with Ma too, delish Dimsum lunch at the Dhara Dhevi (CASTLE IN THE SKYYYY) Oriental, followed by raiding their cake shop for sweet noms. I had cherry sherbet, bought some berry cake, a chocolate scone and a mini box of macaroons (olive! pistachio! banana passion!), as well as an intriguing Tom Kha Gai(!!!) praline.

But to fill this entry with more than just RL yammering, here are
Things on the Internet That Have Made Me Happy:
"Alex Wong from Ballet to Hip-hop" ...SYTYCD is by far one of my favorite reality shows and it almost makes me want to take dance lessons, but I still always feel to uncoordinated and am still at the phase where I dislike looking at my sweaty, red-faced self in mirrors. ALEX IS THE BEST THOUGH, oh my god I love male ballet dancers so fucking much. And that hip-hop routine in the end! BRILLIANT and those bits where he was doing the ballet moves in that street gear? *swoooooons*
Alex Wong and Billy Bell on SYTYCD ...seriously, Alex Wong would've won this fucking season, aughhh it still is so horrible that he got injured. And he just looks smoking hot here, guh. More bonus points for that particular version of "This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight" unfff that song. SHIVERING RN.
"Kombat Dancers gone haywire" ...seriously, I MEAN LOOK AT THIS DUDE. The fact that they're dancing this in such full regalia penguin suits makes everything even more extra special XDD
EVERY SINGLE THING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE NEW OLD SPICE ADS ...SO GENIUS, THE END. The way Isiah Mustafa says HELLO LADIES (and well, everything tbqh) will never stop to crack me up <333333333. And [livejournal.com profile] ladypolitik made genius icons and animated gifs HERE!
Touhou Vid set to "Bad Apple" ...b&w and trippy as all get out. SO HYPNOTIC and just amazingly well made. It helps that I am also mildly obsessed with the song, but I know barely diddlysquat about Touhou and have already rewatched this a few times, ahh.
STAR TREK + GODGA FANART ...why didn't I realize that bits of the Alejandro are basically VULCAN PON-FARR as well sjakfhjafs ahahaha oh man I will never look at those bowl-cuts the same way again. Spock looks adorable, to boot ♥

And last but certainly not least,
25 Lives [livejournal.com profile] tongari's submission to SSBB defies description in how gorgeous, moving and brilliant it is. I have had this open in a tab for AGES, and I still don't get sick of coming back and just staring at it again and again. The second panel is one of my favorites, though all the scenarios are just. AHHH ♥ Highly recommended!
kaiserkuchen: (STrek (C)! O Captain my captain)
Ahh Chiang Mai, the best place to be continuing with my life of leisure chez Maman. Though I am still sending off job applications, seemingly off into the void if the lack of response is anything to go by, things have been pretty relaxed. And awesome.

The past few days of leiiiiiisure, YAY SPN_J2_BB and gym etc etc )

TODAY:
- Mani/pedi and leg waxing ahhh I feel like a real girly girl again! This is a super relaxing way to spend time, one could positively get used to it :D Though holy crapola, it is HOT AS HELL here every day. Even the sudden onset of STORM and GUSTING WINDS really didn't do much after like the one hour it took for all the water to condensate. You actually start sweating like hell just by standing outside. And this happens at like 5PM, not just during noon like one would expect.

AND NOW I MUST CATCH UP ON SUPERNATURAL, COMMUNITY AND MOAR ♥

PEE ESS It took me ages, but I finally have new swank icons~~ *is proud*
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! Now that's hot (D))
BECAUSE IT IS HOT AS HELL HERE. Ahh, you know you're back in (South-East) Asia when leaving the airport, even at half past 5 in the morning feels like walking into a SOLID WALL OF HUMID HEAT. Either I will acclimatize again soon, or start counting "taking cold showers" as one of my new hobbies. This entry will be shorter than I want, because I actually should be in bed right now, for another 5AM wake-up to go into town with Dad looms and of course I am still awake now. FOR TOMORROW I FLY TO ~*SINGAPORE*~ and will be hopefully getting that internship interview aced, see cool things and have a fab time with Mother dearest and our two neighbors who're tagging along aaaaaaaaaand meet the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] hemlocke. I AM EXCITE ALREADY <33

AUSTRIA, packing:
- Utterly and completely failed at this mysterious thing called ~TIME MANAGEMENT~
- Freaked the fuck out about my luggage weight, made last minute package that I dropped off at the post (11kgs lol), threw away a few things that I really shouldn't have (Carmen's naked man calender gift! sobsobsobbbb) BECAUSE MY ACTUAL LUGGAGE ENDED UP WEIGHING 15 FUCKING KILOS *headdesks foreverrr*
- Sabrina gave me the greatest gift ever by not being home on Saturday, so I didn't go through with my plan of sticking a big ol' grand FU note on her door. I was so pressed for time that I wouldn't have had the time anyways, but I am choosing to believe that this will help my karma lol. I pity the poor fool that moves in after me though...

AUSTRIA, airport/flight:
- Clemens totally saved my ass with helping me run and haul my luggage from the bus stop to the S-bahn station, making me safe from just about missing my train. I was telling him that my farewell gift was showing him all the shitty sides of my personality though lol(procrastination leading to epic missing of things and general tardiness). He was a tremendous help, and I admit that I felt a bit bad for thinking badly about him before (well, okay he IS actually a selfish dick most of the time. Which makes his actions now even nicer, I guess?)
- Flight was actually awesome-- great food (seriously!), I sat near the toilets and a nice old auntie who turned out to be a really famous Thai author?? A fact that made me kind of retroactively wish I engaged in smarter chit-chat, but I seem to have amused her either way? (She was gently mocking of the way I cracked up and generally fidgeted when I was watching the inflight entertainment, lol whoops). Hardly slept during the flight due to the movies I was watching: Avatar (admittedly pretty visuals but oh the faiiiil, how it burned), It's Complicated (more fun than expected, and god the food in this flick looked delish) and The Young Victoria (more interesting and engrossing than expected. Kept thinking about that hilarious Kate Beaton comic though, which possibly added to my enjoyment <33)

THAILAND, homecoming:
- Dad actually picked me up, which was wonderful and I totally annoyed him in like ten minutes flat because I was keyed up as hell from my flight and he had just dragged himself out of bed at 4AM to come get me <33
- Doggies freaked the fuck out when they saw me, which is always super gratifying. Nero looks older and older every time I see him but he at least seems fit. Ace is a GIANT DOOFUS, the end.
- Khun Yai MADE A GIANT BATCH OF MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE BANANA CHIPS. Just because she knew I was coming! AHHHH BLISS *noms* Also, I have already had fresh ripe mangoes from our gardens and from the farm and more fruit to come~. And in food news, Dad snagged me a pot of Foie Gras spread, and has been making the most delicious things as per my whims. He has an invitation to attend a Chef's Dinner at the Oriental hotel this Thursday that features a TWELVE COURSE PASTA MENU, along with the accompanying wine and I am just horrendously jealous.
kaiserkuchen: (Mr. Darcy! Oh My~)
THE GOOD TO EXCELLENT:
- Cheer-inducing links: I WANT THIS NECKLACE SO BAD. LIKE REALLY BAD AHHHH *_*, Yay Lady Gaga fanart!, TONY STARK FACTS FUCK YEAH, My inner 8 year-old is SQUEEING at this (western) live action Sailor Moon casting picspam, Another SPN genderswitch casting that I think has some interesting ideas of the Not Winchester characters
- It was a beautiful and sunny day, and I had lunch and hung out with Ex-Tutor Georg, Clemens and Wido at the Stiegl Ambulanz. Delicious noms (Kärtner Kasnudeln!) and a fantastic rambling conversation that quickly went off the tracks and turned into an exercise in who could say the most outrageously perverted things and tell the stupidest jokes. I am pleased to say that I scored a few good zingers and played a part in making two grown men cry from laughter :DD I also feel that I deserve bonus points, as we made Georg laugh through most of his sudden phone-call and be basically unintelligible to someone who turned out to be his date for tomorrow. WHOOPS :DD And when we parted ways I got a hug from him that lifted me up a bit (always thrilling when guys do this to me as I am not petite and light and thus never expect it) and a last parting shot that broke his brain (the fact that Vulcan peen is very likely green XDD)
- Saw A Single Man with Olga today, and what an amazing experience. An utterly gorgeous, intensely well-acted and wonderfully well-made movie that delighted, made you cry and even laugh at certain parts. Seriously, the last thing I expected going in to watch this was that I'd be laughing a bunch of times thanks to the sprinkling of jokes and moments of surprise levity. Colin Firth rightly deserves all the accolades he got for his role as George Falconer, he was spectacular. As was Matthew Goode (the flashbacks to various memories that George and Jim had together! AHHH sobsob). Nicholas Hoult seemed weirdly orange (probably because his hair was so light, too) and I spent a lot of time in his scenes staring at his faaaace and his fuzzy white sweater get-up and marveling at how tall he apparently is. Another thing that HAS to be mentioned is the score. OH MAN. I need to get the OST as soon as possible.
Youtuuuuuube clips )

THE BAD TO EXTREMELY VEXING AND/OR RAGE-INDUCING:
- THE SITUATION BACK HOME. "Deadly blasts hit Bangkok protest" (helpful maps), "Bomb terror grips Silom" and Thai grenade attack kills at least 3". WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. This is just getting worse and worse. And what is perhaps the most creepy part of these attacks to me is that I know that area, and normally like spending time there (especially in the evening browsing the night market that is set up on the sidewalks... which, oh, was AROUND THE TIME THE GRENADES WENT OFF :|||). The BK Magazine office I interned at are basically also on the opposite side of the street where the grenades went off. As I've mentioned before, Bangkok is becoming more and more inhospitable for all the plans I had made for slowly getting myself settled there on my own-- living near Langsuan (a stone's throw away from the red-shirt camp), shopping and perhaps also working at Ratchaprasong (REAAAALLY smack-dab in the red-shirt camp) and now this happening to Silom? I've heard that the shopkeepers in the area are mobilizing and ready to defend their homes and livelihoods though, which is great. Though I can already see that this'll just end with more injured, and more dead. AUGHHH.
My plan remains reaaaaaally hoping for the Singapore thing to work out (the lady won't be calling me tomorrow after all, and I'll just be dropping by for a face-to-face interview on the 28th, since we're going to Singapore regardless. Yay birthday present!).

...I now forgot what else I was going to say. OH RIGHT I AM WAAAAAAAAAY NOT DONE WITH PACKING AND MOST OF MY LAST ERRANDS YET. FUUUUCK. So gonna stay home and try to get this done on my last night in Vienna tomorrow, I don't care how anti-climatic it is.
kaiserkuchen: (TVD! Damon is Not Impressed)
I wonder if one day I will be able to be one of those people who can basically cram their entire life in a suitcase and just be off. I would even settle for two suitcases-- perhaps with a 30kg limit each and a carry-on luggage aaaaaaaand would ya look at this, I am even managing to overpack already in this little fantasy. I guess I am just a ~HOARDER TO THE BONESSS. This is now my last week in Vienna, and I am slowly feeling the time slipping away from me. I am making good progress on my list of Important Errands That Have To Be Done Before Leaving The Country though, so I don't feel so bad when I occasionally (often) zone out in front of the computer and end up plowing through 100K+ of Star Trek fic since ahem, Saturday.

Have been a somewhat busy bee with meeting and hanging-out with various people, with of course the bestest shoutouts and props going to my dear [livejournal.com profile] cheshire_tabby, she who is basically ending up with around 89% percent of the contents of my dorm XDD. Meeting [livejournal.com profile] nebst for the first time on Tuesday was also utterly fantastic, and we got to combine legit ~art appreciation walking around the Kunsthistorisches Museum and fangirl/fandom talk. I took silly pictures of masterpieces to amuse me that I realize I still haven't uploaded yet, oops. Looking forward to the Cafe Landtmann tomorrow already! Spoiler alert: I'll probably be nomming away again, ahhh I still think of the fantastic Backhendl+Kartoffelsalat at that MQ place *_*
Got to do stuff with some uni peeps as well, and Clemens even is showing himself from his best side now! He offered to bring me to the airport this Saturday-- if my flight isn't canceled PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T DO THIS TO ME, VOLCANIC ASH CLOUD OF DOOM-- which was a pleasant, if slightly confusing surprise.

I managed to pack up 9.7kgs of clothes, shoes and other assorted bits and bobs to send off on Monday (57€ shipping, not bad), realizing at the same time that my arms are feeble noodles incapable of carrying even marginally heavy loads. I also succeeded in unregistering myself from Vienna, one of my biggest to-do points now crossed off. Scanned it in at Olga's place today (where we had DELICIOUS STELZE & KARTOFFELSALAT OM NOM NOM ONE OF MY AUSTRIAN DREAMS, ACCOMPLISHED), and now I just have to get over myself and write the emails to the various places that need it as proof to cancel my insurance and etc etc. Blargh.

Dad also called and updated me on the newest happenings back home and lolll IF I MAKE IT TO THAILAND, and barring good news in S'pore, it seems like I will be spending more time up north in Chiang Mai then first expected! You can't do jack shit in town now because of the reds, and more and more of the hotels have now closed, or have abbreviated opening hours (Dad's had to close at midday today). Going to the fitness studio, eating healthy food with Ma and sitting through her now self-declared quest to be the one to instruct me on how to improve my written Thai does sound like an awesome way to pass the time though, not gonna lie.

PS In not shocking news, my roommate is still a slob of the highest degree, and a skank who apparently is having an affair with a married man, if her EXTREMELY LOUD phone conversations while stomping around the place drunkenly at 2AM are anything to go by. For the dude's sake, I hope she's over that phase where she had vaginal fungus meds lying around the bathroom (that was ...awkward to discover lol). For all that she is allergic to general forms of cleanliness, she does have a strange mouthwash fetish, there are at least four different types of such products in our bathroom now and she once went through 2 full bottles of Listerine in 5 days. I think someone forgot to tell her you don't actually drink it? IDK IDK.

EDIT TO ADD: Fantastic classical cover of Gaga & B's "Telephone"!! ...I think what I like best about this, besides the usual !!! classical cover glee is how you can really see how much fun everyone involved is having. Also, the dudes are kind of cute :D
kaiserkuchen: (ETC! Well shit son)
I must say that I am glad to have people in my life who shove my resisting self into the blinding rays of ~*TRUTH*~, as I am always happy to sail my good ship Let's Not Think About It Too Hard on the winding river of Denial. Kind of silly, but still true case in point:

(early this week)
KAZ: MAN EATING THE GIANT BAG OF GRADE-A WALNUTS THAT DAD GAVE ME IS FANTASTIC. BEST SNACK EVER, AND EVEN BETTER WITH ALL THE MÜSLI I EAT *munches throughout the day*
(later in the week)
KAZ: MAN I AM SOMETIMES GETTING A WEIRD FEELING IN MY CHEST. SURELY IT CAN'T BE FROM ALL THE WALNUTS, RIGHT? SHOULD I GOOGLE "WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I EAT TOO MANY NUTS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME"? NAWWW SOMETHING THIS DELICIOUS COULD NEVER BE BAD *drizzles more honey on them, munches*
(today)
KAZ: HEY [livejournal.com profile] cheshire_tabby, IT'S NOT A BAD THING, RIGHT?? I MEAN, THERE IS STILL A THIRD LEFT IN MY BAG...
OLGA: ...actually, it isn't the best idea. At all. You should probably stop.
KAZ: .........DAMMIT.

Especially now that I checked and it actually was a 1 kg bag. Maaaan, I had this nice delusion going that it was less. And now I have to buy new snack food to mix things up a bit, even though I was trying to nom my way through the mass I already have. I still have two more 1kg bags of almonds and pine nuts, as well as a 250g pack of salted macadamias...

In other less blatantly ridiculous news, (cut for blather) )

TL;DR: I cannot eat anything in moderation and am a total unfun reverse-vampire senior citizen (credit goes to [livejournal.com profile] laliandra for that term <33)
kaiserkuchen: (TBBT! It all started with the)
The last few days have been spent doing basically the same things over and over, except in slightly different combinations and constellations.

Example the first: Watching MOVIES:
If I switched Thursday evening with Friday, I have basically been watching a movie a day since then until Monday :D. Even so, I gotta say that I am Not Pleased at how the ticket prices seem to have shot up in BKK since I was here last year. UNCOOL.
Spoilery thoughts on: Hurt Locker, Alice in Wonderland 3D, Up in the Air and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus )

Example the second: Hang out with awesome people:
These last few days doing assorted things with Ginger and co have again reaffirmed how important food is to Thai culture and being social in general and how I whole-heartedly adore this. I clearly am weak in my food-fu from all the time spent in Europe though, must work on this when I come back.

Example the third: Obsessively rewatch male figure-skating vids:
And by male figure-skating I mostly mean mainlining the ~oeuvre of one Stephane Lambiel. I MEAN JEEBUS CHRIST THIS GUY IS UNREAL. About as unreal and magical as a magical zebra in the winter with wings. The outfit will never stop making me lol, but his World Championship-winning performance here is so amazing.

AND SPEAKING OF AMAZING, THIS POST just about killed my browser, and my brain because holy HQ pics of sexyness, Batman!. BRB SWOONING FOREVERRRRRRRRR ♥ <-- Lal, this is totally the post I was talking about *_*b

This show is intensely HAPPY-MAKING AHHHH )

Oh and I went over to Carmen's for some quality trashy German TV-watching (MODEL WG FUCK YEAHHHH). We planned to try and make a banana walnut cake using my rice cooker as it was described in the little recipe book that came with it. BUT FOR SOME REASON it turned out to be mostly just uncooked banana walnut goo, with only around 1/5th of the cake being actually solid. Which I, being in possession of a stronger stomach than Carmen, of course ate as well as some of the goo before the sheer amount of butter separating itself started to gross me out. It was delicious, but man if only it were done. We wasted half a kilo of banana and nearly 200g of quality walnuts on that! My stomach still feels fine, though I feel like I am hallucinating the feeling of being surrounded by a cloud of buttery smells.
kaiserkuchen: (Dexter! Angels & Demons)
Started to do so since yesterday, and managed to suddenly wind up in front of the computer at 3AM again. DAMMIT, SELF!! Simon Amstell is probably my favorite host though, he is so hilarious and snarky ♥ Cracked up so much at the episode with Kelly Rowland who kept looking at turns vaguely confused and disturbed by the shenanigans going on XDD.

Because thinking up smooth transitions from paragraph to paragraph is too much of a fucking hassle atm, a random list of things I have been up to:

- Watched Gamer with Carmen on Friday, starring Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall amongst others and it was quite possibly one of the most stupid and insulting movies I have ever seen in a good long while. I mean, though the topic is interesting and merits discussion, I had no real expectations of ~depth~ from a movie that is basically about REAL VIDEO GAMES!!1 in the future and nanobots and death-row prisoners fighting to win the game and gain freedom but OH WAIT they are controlled by players!1 and the head of the game tech developing company is EVIL!1, but the cliches the movie traded in were extensive and dated, the way women and people who weren't fit white men were treated was disgusting and demeaning and quite frankly, the action wasn't all that great. It was quite clear that the makers specifically tailored everything in the movie to their core audience of 16-twentysomething year old dudes, and it was evident in things like the titsapalooza in every possible scene, the groupies who vidchat the Gerard Butler Character's gamer calling themselves Cumdumpstaaz (....seriously), fake!lesbians galore and various demeaning things happening to GBC's wife during her "job" as some virtual reality meatpuppet.
The only good thing about the movie was basically Michael C. Hall's unrepentantly hammy yet entertaining performance as the villain (with a southern accent, even >_>;), and I just basically kept imagining him in character as Dexter for the lulz, I do admit it. This scene in particular was perfection. His creepy dancing and lip-synching!

- Finally got around to cleaning up my yahoo!mail account, which was heading towards the big 10'000 of emails, so I uh, spent the afternoon trying and eventually succeeding in deleting 6'000 emails. Phew! All those FB and LJ notifications from ahem, 2006 and 2007, GOODBYE!

- Had delicious delights with Hazel and Carmen today at the Pure Living Bakery. Exceedingly charming place and lovely, home-made pastries. I had a "monster cinnamon roll" that was baked with apple slices in it, om nom nom ♥. Also discovered that Hazel has a crazy, crazy schedule and Carmen and I are basically hobos who complain about actually having to leave the house every now and again in comparison, lol.

- For the last few days, and basically since I came back from Salzburg, I have meant to post a bit about [livejournal.com profile] yuletart. Have probably spammed the same favorites I had over and over again to different people on skype, but never did I actually remember to mention it here. Well consider this the day I change this! My Yuletart pic this year was from Pushing Daisies and I received a lovely Steampunk!DDS picture of Serph from [livejournal.com profile] mashimero. Here is a small selection of personal favorites from this year's lot (go check out the rest!):
A)ZOMBIES AND VIOLENCE! Two tastes that go well together (Left 4 Dead/Team Fortress 2)
B)Gorgeous pencil sketches of Morgana and The Fall (Merlin, The Fall)
C)Utterly fantastic craft-y knitting idea (Merlin)
D)STUNNING genderswap of the main four (Merlin) ...idek why I liked the Merlin stuff so much this year XDDD
E)Bonafide story-tale beauty (Merlin) [livejournal.com profile] nebst, you got some mad skills, lady ♥
F)SO CUTE, SO FUNNY, SO PERFECT (Star Trek)

ALSO!! Check out these FIERCE LADY GAGA BARBIE DOLL MODS ...the little costumes! GLORIOUS.

Bits of 2009, the Nearly Done Now Edition:
...first off, I gotta say that I have given up the idea of posting any pics of Copenhagen or assorted summer things I meant to do, so uh. ADD ME ON FACEBOOK if you haven't already, it's all nice and sorted with ~genius~ commentary, even. OR APPROVE MY FRIEND REQUEST AHEM AHEM YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ;DD lol j/k take your time, dude ♥

That said, here be a commentated ~~List of Viennese restaurants~~ that Carmen and I (with assorted guest stars and other friends adding to our numbers randomly, of course) visited last year. I was talking to her about how things were waaaay back in the first semester when we weren't that close yet, and remembered that our friendship was basically built on lunch dates. Which we had weekly at the Coffee Day near the uni. Lolol oh how we've improved, to say the least!

VIENNESE NOMS 2009. Tried to add the restaurant links if possible for future refs and all that. )

AND IF YOU READ THROUGH ALL THAT, you now know why I hardly ever go clubbing: I spend all my money on food and eating out :Db And I DO NOT REGRET A THING ♥

...wow coding and typing this up took ages. THREE AM AGAIN, DAMN YOUUUUU.
kaiserkuchen: (TVD! Damon is Not Impressed)
My days here since Saturday evening have been lethargic and unproductive in RL-terms, though I just finished updating of my icons and did spend Sunday having delicious cookery funtimes with Miss Olga again (mmmh rice with tiny veggie bits, turkey breast and tomato sauce). NEXT TIME: Pictorial evidence! Not that it ends up like October 2009 again-- a month of awesome and being social, but with no pics to back it up lol. But! Carmen is also back today, and I was so excited to see her agaaaaaaain, and also welcome the fact that her presence means I get off my ass and do things like a normal, productive person. She brought me more homemade jam from her mom (plum and cinnamon this time ♥, am still having the best sandwiches ever with the blueberry, rum and vanilla one I got in December when Ines came) and some homemade cookies, too! Delightful ones dipped in chocolate with a walnut and orange marmalade filling and super cinnamon-y cinnamon stars with delicious icing. IT ALL SMELLS SO DAMN GOOD, I could happily just sit here and huff the bag like some crazy addict :D

One of the minor, but personally important things I need to focus on is getting my sleeping patterns back to normal again-- have fallen back to my first year at uni levels of bad habits. 4AM bedtimes and regaining consciousness at 11AM is not a good thing, and the rings under my eyes are approaching panda territory :/ I've managed to dial it back to 3AM last night though, and plan on going to bed at 2.30AM today. Slow increments! THE INTERNET BETTER NOT SUDDENLY BECOME INTERESTING NOW, OKAY.

Also, I managed to drag myself downstairs to check my mail (was too lazy before, for the usual stupid reasons) and lo and behold my mailbox held two glorious treasures:
TREASURE ONE: [livejournal.com profile] rainrockstar, thank you so much for the super cute gingerbread-men card! Their wee buttons! And I must say that I am tremendously jealous of your handwriting-- it look so classy and stylish!

TREASURE TWO: [livejournal.com profile] nebst, THE PACKAGE CAME!! OH MY GOD ♥. Thanks a milliooooooon, eee! I am super exited to try out the imps now, and have decided to start tomorrow when I am actually gonna be leaving the house and not just lounging 'round in my PJs all day. I just keep opening the little sachets and sniffing them happily :DD. I'll just email you after this post for your German address, eh? My bad for not sending my package off earlier, ahhh.

OH AND HERE BE: another year end meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight
MMH DELICIOUS WALL OF TEXT. I am so not done with recapping '09 yet lol )
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! YOU GO GIRL (D))
But I have a limited time-frame of internet time again, and a bunch of things to post still. Just posted my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas picture in the previous entry and sent off my last UE Hist that was transformed into something almost beautiful thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cheshire_tabby's Mad German Beta Reader skillz. Hopefully my Prof will be so tired from the holidays that she accepts my vague yammerings and doesn't notice/mind that the 2 pages and spare change are in 1.5 Zeilenabstand XD.

Here, mainly for my own reference and "journaling" purposes, a summary of the previous, internetless days. Also known as, THE COWTOWN CHRONICLES, Winter 2009 Edition
Behind a cut for better scrolling by, and also because it is long as fuck. TL;DR ALAAAARM )

Today I got dragged out for a rousing round of Bockareiten, or bobsledding as I guess one would call it in English. And by rousing I mean that I refused to get on one and basically dragged Sara's sled around and up and down hills, sweating and wheezing all the time. Again, awesome work-out though. I hope the constant yawning that I was doing all the time is something that won't happen every time I leave the house, though. That and the ever present pressure imbalance in my ears sucked, too. Makes talking very strange, when you can hear your own voice echo in your head...
kaiserkuchen: (Glee! Two good-looking Jews)
Today in a week, I should have my printed BAKK2 thesis in hand, ready to dump it at the secretary's office at the institute, because apparently my prof isn't in town yet. Am at 37 pages so far, two more of the interviews to analyze (or rather, summarize, man I am totally winging it), the conclusion and hypotheses and additional theories to add in the beginning to go! I hope it's gonna be good enough to pass, and maybe even get a 2 or something out of it. I really can't tell how she's gonna grade it, but ahh nothing I can do but get it finished in time eh?

But of course, I haven't spent the last few days solely working on my thesis like a good student would do, I have instead been trawling rec lists and reading oodles of Gleefic, as Puck & Rachel have kind of overtaken my brain and are sharing space with the overwhelming love I have for Kurt. So to spread the joy and distraction, here be some of the ones I really liked beyond the cut!
Thank god, there is decent Glee fic out there, woo! )

Some other worthy distractions:
The Fun Theory ...stolen from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] laulan and her wonderful "Awesome-up your Monday" posts, here be a link to what the good people at Volkswagen have been coming up with to make every day activities more fun. I ADORE THE PIANO STEPS LIKE WOAH.
FOOD GAWKER ...aka "WOULD YOU LIKE TO FEEL HUNGRY AND MAKE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TO EAT ATM SEEM HORRENDOUSLY INADEQUATE?" If you answered: OF COURSE, well this site is perfect. Ahhh, the delicious looking fooooooooood~~
Accidental Dong ...it is kind of hilarious, okay?? I own up to my sometimes lamesauce sense of humor, though I take solace in still not finding fart/poop/puke jokes & humor funny :|
WHYYYYY ...SPEAKING OF DONGS, ugh 1) why is it 500$ and more importantly 2) WHY DOES IT HAVE MY NAME DD: Why can't there be better things named after meeee, bawww.

PS WHO WATCHED THE LATEST MAD MEN? Holy fuck, it was so good. JON HAMM NEEDS HIS EMMY, STAT.
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! The ladies approve of this)
BUT!! In other, epic-ly delightful and stunning news-- [livejournal.com profile] laulan, I GOT YOUR MAIL!!!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE AHHH. Color me utterly, totally and relentless charmed and happy and over-joyed. So much awesome-- the Trader Joe's Choc Pudding that I am saving for a special occasion, and damn if the packaging is not simply retro-glorious beauty. Ahhh, I admit that I was always curious about Trader Joe schwag, and now I can find outtt! Eee! BUT THE MOST ULTIMATE WINNER OF EVERYTHING EVER IS THE PERSONALIZED DOMO-KUN THESIS COUNTDOWN ADVENT CALENDER. I MEAN!!! No wonder you were saying something about days. And lolol dude, you are almost making me look forward to the days passing so I can open a new box! I ALSO ADMIT, I BASICALLY TEARED UP WHEN I GOT IT, OH MY GOD one of the most sweetest things anyone has ever mailed me ♥ ♥ ♥ ILU FOREVER MY DARLINGGGGG! *TWIRLS IN GLEE*

Other than that, my life remains the same as always, though I went to uni today and apparently there are over a 1000 students who have barricaded themselves in the Audimax, and who have been doing so since the afternoon (I went there at ca. six thirty). Apparently they'll even be sleeping there overnight. It's going to be interesting to see if the Minister of Education will actually do something about their protest and their demands, though I must say I get why the people are protesting because seriously, it's like the rules and regulations of the universities change with each goddamn semester. And amongst other things, we do have a problem in Austria with all the Germans coming over to study who couldn't make it past the admissions/Numerus clausus back home and overload the courses and the resources. Ahhh.

Random ♥ links ♥ to round this entry off:
OM NOM NOM I CAN'T WAIT FOR COPENHAGEN ALREADYYY
Everyone has probably already seen this but: HOT FUZZ SLASH FIC TWEETS BY EDGAR WRIGHT, SIMON PEGG AND NICK FROST ...SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS, SERIOUSLY.
kaiserkuchen: (ETC! HEARTS AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE)
To counteract the last one (though I still hope Sabrina remains gooooooone for a while, ugh at least now I have somewhat cleaned things. WHY IS THERE ALWAYS HAIR IN THE FRIDGE, FOR REALS D:), a list of reasons why life is pretty boss right now:

♥ I found out that my BAKK2 Thesis deadline is "the end of October". Which still mean I should start with the actual writing soon (tomorrow!), but it is excellent news. TIME, PRECIOUS TIME.
My university courses have all also finally aligned! Got into my two necessary seminars, and managed to successfully sign up for two sociology electives that total over my needed 5 ECTS AAAAND I am probably going to attempt the ABWL Intro to Business exam at the BWZ in November/December that would be 6 ECTS if I pass, so either way I seem to be set for graduation! NOTE TO SELF: DON'T FUCK THIS UP
♥ THE ROOM IS NEARLY CLEAN AND CLEARED UP
♥ Have been purposely trying to eat healthily now- yogurt and whole-wheat toast, fruits and salads and it has been nom nom nom-licious so far! Totally used the +honey idea from C in my Lamb's lettuce salad with Serrano ham and figs yesterday, and it was pretty much ~*tastebud heaven*~. And tonight I dine with Miss Olga again, double yay for nomming healthy food in company, even! :D

♥ ♥ I WANTED TO GIVE THIS DESERVING SPACE, SO HERE IT IS. EVERYBODY WHO SENT ME MAIL OVER THE SUMMER, I GOT IT AND I LOVE YOU ALLLLLLL! Even my RL crazy travelling peeps did not disappoint (Pisa! London! Milan! Berlin!) and seriously, it was an amazing feeling opening my mailbox and not having it only be filled with bills and bank statements. [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight, your DEE CEE mail is fabulous and I am rolling about in glee just looking at it again, GORGEOUS POSTCARDS AND COOL FLYERS ACHHH. Also, your namecard is gloriousss nggg TOY EXPERT! Does this mean I can legit call you up and get a consultation when I have a ~Toy emergency~?? THE HOLIDAY SEASON IS COMING UP, AFTER ALL
AND [livejournal.com profile] laulan, duuuuuuuuuude a double-whammy of mail? Be still my beating heart! And the postcard of the San Fran bridge is epically ~dramatic~ and mysterious, and it totally makes SF look like a magic land of mystery and possibly DINOSAURS. I associate dinosaurs with fog?? My brain just told me this, idk. And I can only state again that the post-it letter was one of the best things that I have ever received in a (fantastically be-stickered ♥) envelope and I will not stop until everyone in my immediate RL circle knows about its color-coordinated brilliance ♥ ALSO I WILL REPLY TO THE CONTENTS IN AN EMAIL, COMING TO YOU ...SOON :DD

...HMMM this entry seems pretty long, so I'll save the Wat Rong Khun pics for a seperate entry. Which I will probably post in like an hour lol SORRY FOR THE SPAM BBs
kaiserkuchen: (STrek! I MAKE GOOD LIFE CHOICES)
I have been kind of the ~*Queen Flake*~ of Jesuschristwhydoisuck-dom, but I guess that is fitting to the theme of this summer. It feels like eternity, and still I wish I could have spent more time here. University calls, and I wish I could just ignore it, especially now that it seems that my final semester will be fraught with bureaucratic fuckery regarding amongst others, increments of 5 FUCKING ECTS points that I still need to conclude my free electives that must then be approved.
Oh university, how you have always been not much more than a means to an end to me- and while I hope there is an alternate universe me that is happily studying for her probably useless university degree- this version just can't wait for it to be finally over.

Things that have been awesome in the last few days were:
- Getting my HD successfully cloned, and going from 80GB --> 320GB of space. MOTHERFUCKING HELL YEAH, this is how we roll. And all this for 3,100 baht/ 60€. This is why Asia is the best place ever to be. All your wishes, bam!
- Last victory tour of shopping spots and fave snack places-- Kanom Krabuang, Hokkaido soft serve, delish sushi, mango smoothies and moaaaaaar
- Ma (and her credit card's) surprise treating me to what has to have been the best facial treatment I have ever experienced at the place where I got my bikini wax. The Clarins Institute has totally won over my heart-- the treatment bed even had a heating pad inside ngggggg BLISS
- Dinner with Dad at Chesa's-- best melt-in-your-mouth Australian Sirloin steak I have also ever had, simply perfection! Which was rounded off by delicious mango-passionfruit Mövenpick sorbet ♥

Things that have been not awesome:
- Getting my period, and thus traveling with it (at least I know why I was so angry and cranky these last few days though lol)
- My luggage weighs 24 kgs. PLEASE MAKE THAT OKAY AND PASSABLE, MAGIC GODS OF THE CHECK-IN COUNTER
- Ace comes into my room. Stares at my face with his usual dopey expression. And then proceeds to casually lift a leg up and piss in my room. Thankfully he didn't hit anything important, but still. DUMBASS DOG :/

OOOH Dad and Sue are back, hopefully this means dinner now ahhh so hungry. See y'all on the flipside and wish me a good, and empty flight bereft of dickery and assholes :
