My first week of being back on the job since the 9th of December last year is behind me now and I have got to say that barring getting to see my ladies (and dude, can't forget M, our lone XY chromosome-holder in the group) again, IT WAS A LOAD OF STEAMING SHIT. I thought it was all in my head at first, that I wasn't used to the workload any more, the way the calls seemed to pile up but I counted along and we are back to the level of having a call come in every minute for about 95% of the work day. I am still lucky that most of these aren't the negative yelling-and-insulting-your-intelligence ones, but it is only a matter of time. In the interest of keeping my sanity up, I have implemented the usual coping-strategies without shame again, fuck my statistics: delaying the moment of picking up the phone, spending a bit of the post-call processing time eating snacks and uh, sometimes just hanging up on the callers for accounts that piss me off. These little rebellions are still a drop in the ocean though, since deep in my heart I normally like to follow rules and normally feel very guilty about these things.

We also have a new girl R, who I am still formulating my opinion about, but the current forecast seems to be rough since she pings all my dirty-hippy-backpacker prejudices and that just makes me automatically affect a more disdainful and stuck-up version of who I normally am. I KNOW BACKPACKERS ARE MOSTLY VERY NICE PEOPLE but man the ones that I have talked to that keep yammering about how their way is the only ~true way to experience the REAL Asia just keep getting my hackles up. Also perhaps we are too jaded but I. told me that R also has some pretty naive expectations about her working life here and ahahahaha we'll see. We kind of have an unofficial bet going for how long she's gonna last.

BUT NOW FOR MORE ~*FANDOM-Y NEWS*~:

yuletart reveals went up a few days ago and I can now say that I was behind the following The Hunger Games paper dolls! I remain pretty pleased with how it turned out, and again, many thanks to laliandra and laulan for being my usual art betas! Am not at my own computer at the moment, but I'll put up an actual post soon with the HQ versions as I did make them to actually be playable (well somewhat. At the very least, they're supposed to be nearly A4-sized!). My gift art this year was the following SMOKING HOT CAROLINE from The Vampire Diaries (season 2 spoilers!) by the lovely dualbunny, who was also my own recipient lol. BASICALLY I WAS VERY PLEASED BY THIS YEAR'S YULETART and it remains one of my favorite yearly art fests ♥

Cupid's Chokehold by nel_ani. Hawaii Five-0 Steve/Danny goodness, AHHHH ♥. I need to download this onto my laptop so I can watch it every day for that shot of pure happiness, ahh. Such clever use of the clips to the lyrics, too-- I just keep alternating between cracking up and sighing contently.
Runs in the Family by kaiyote. Supernatural and a total MOOD SHIFT from the previous vid. Fantastic song choice and look at the fucked-up angels and again, excellent use of clips and sharp, rapid cutting. I particularly adore the editing of the "fill me up" (all the sex and in between it all, Cas gorging himself on food) and "knock me up" (ANGELS WILL MESS YOU UP) parts. Also, it reminds me that Misha Collins is fantastic at all those different weary/hopeless/dead tired Castiel!faces.
Sex and Reruns by greensilver. Community and mucho thanks for Lalface for reccing this to me. I cannot say enough that Community is one of the best shows ever and every one should watch it. How can it be so consistently hilarious and touching, creative and zany and still above all retain such a lovely heart? I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT and this vid just reinforces my convictions ♥ ♥.
Folding Chair by sisabet. Another Community vid, this time focusing on Annie. Lovely song and OH ANNIE, YOU ARE SO AMAZING AND HILARIOUS AND ADORABLE <33. I had the biggest smile after I finished watching this. And Allison Brie is hot, it has to be said.

This year's BB arting main theme for me was "EMBRACE THE COLO-- PIIINK AGAIN" and "stylize, stylize, stylize!". I sure as hell had a fun time drawing all of these (the subject matter alone proved irresistable), and I hope I can somehow convey a bit of happy and good cheer to y'all as well~.

As I have been bitching about it on Twitter and FB, my laptop/Windows decided to totally and utterly out of the blue crash on me on Thursday. It was to the extent that I could restart the computer, but Windows wouldn't run and thus it would reboot in an eternal loop before I switched it off... and had to wait until returning to Chiang Mai today.

Basically I have had my BB and the extremely easier than expected way I can read teeny tiny fic on it for utterly distracting me from my woes. Because I can easily freak myself out when I think about it, as I was also stupid enough to not have backed up my data/pictures since uh FEBRUARY of this year. Whiiiich would pretty much fuck me over hard if the computer whizzes I left my laptop with can't save anything. For instance, MY FUCKING spn_j2_bigbang TITLE ART, FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I knew I should've saved it on USB stick ASAP or at least sent someone the PSD. file. I mean, I have the screencaps that I sent people, but they are so small :/ BUT! purequicksilver, have no fear: If I am totally screwed comwise I'll just draw something analog. Found my old COPIC markers that still seem to be in top shape (my ability to use them effectively notwithstanding XD) and some sketchbook paper. Luckily we still have time til posting and I'll definitely hold up my end of the partnership, THIS I PLEDGE YOUUUU <33

I also thought that LJ would've at least had autosaved the GIGANTIC ENTRY I was writing juuust before the crash, so uh GOODBYE painstakingly, nearly 90% done massive rec entry of SPN codas and STrek, BBT, White Collar and etc fic! *headdesks* MAYBE I'll get around to it again at one point, but definitely not on Ma's laptop here. I am already so out of touch in using the English keyboard... Anyways, nothing much I can do now but wait and cross my fingers and pray that even if my computer is borked to high heavens and I need to drop cold hard cash for a new one, I WILL STILL HAVE MY PICTURES D: The ones of the dogs in Feb, fuuuuuuck ;_;

IN CONCLUSION, have a clip of a song that had nudged away Rihanna's Rudeboy and thankfully that Bieberabomination song (they play it here incessantly argh). Thaitanium's "Sud Korb Faa(Edge of the Sky)". Thaitay is a rap group I normally am either disinterested or vaguely irritated by, but Ad Carabao for a guest star is like the apparently grizzled secret spice that can lure me. I just love his voice so much in the chorus and the ~inspirational lyrics AHHHHH ♥ Ignoring the usual hip hop posturing, I also adore the b&w sweeping shots of Bangkok and the orchestra parts. SWOOOOOOOOON. Now if only I could just buy the single and avoid the album XDD


PEE ESS totally borked the timezones on this for my friend in Germany who was born on the 6/6 too (DO YOU EVEN CHECK LJ ANYMORE,luscious_mangos??) but! THE GOOD TO EXCELLENT:
- Cheer-inducing links: I WANT THIS NECKLACE SO BAD. LIKE REALLY BAD AHHHH *_*, Yay Lady Gaga fanart!, TONY STARK FACTS FUCK YEAH, My inner 8 year-old is SQUEEING at this (western) live action Sailor Moon casting picspam, Another SPN genderswitch casting that I think has some interesting ideas of the Not Winchester characters
- It was a beautiful and sunny day, and I had lunch and hung out with Ex-Tutor Georg, Clemens and Wido at the Stiegl Ambulanz. Delicious noms (Kärtner Kasnudeln!) and a fantastic rambling conversation that quickly went off the tracks and turned into an exercise in who could say the most outrageously perverted things and tell the stupidest jokes. I am pleased to say that I scored a few good zingers and played a part in making two grown men cry from laughter :DD I also feel that I deserve bonus points, as we made Georg laugh through most of his sudden phone-call and be basically unintelligible to someone who turned out to be his date for tomorrow. WHOOPS :DD And when we parted ways I got a hug from him that lifted me up a bit (always thrilling when guys do this to me as I am not petite and light and thus never expect it) and a last parting shot that broke his brain (the fact that Vulcan peen is very likely green XDD)
- Saw A Single Man with Olga today, and what an amazing experience. An utterly gorgeous, intensely well-acted and wonderfully well-made movie that delighted, made you cry and even laugh at certain parts. Seriously, the last thing I expected going in to watch this was that I'd be laughing a bunch of times thanks to the sprinkling of jokes and moments of surprise levity. Colin Firth rightly deserves all the accolades he got for his role as George Falconer, he was spectacular. As was Matthew Goode (the flashbacks to various memories that George and Jim had together! AHHH sobsob). Nicholas Hoult seemed weirdly orange (probably because his hair was so light, too) and I spent a lot of time in his scenes staring at his faaaace and his fuzzy white sweater get-up and marveling at how tall he apparently is. Another thing that HAS to be mentioned is the score. OH MAN. I need to get the OST as soon as possible.

THE BAD TO EXTREMELY VEXING AND/OR RAGE-INDUCING:
- THE SITUATION BACK HOME. "Deadly blasts hit Bangkok protest" (helpful maps), "Bomb terror grips Silom" and Thai grenade attack kills at least 3". WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. This is just getting worse and worse. And what is perhaps the most creepy part of these attacks to me is that I know that area, and normally like spending time there (especially in the evening browsing the night market that is set up on the sidewalks... which, oh, was AROUND THE TIME THE GRENADES WENT OFF :|||). The BK Magazine office I interned at are basically also on the opposite side of the street where the grenades went off. As I've mentioned before, Bangkok is becoming more and more inhospitable for all the plans I had made for slowly getting myself settled there on my own-- living near Langsuan (a stone's throw away from the red-shirt camp), shopping and perhaps also working at Ratchaprasong (REAAAALLY smack-dab in the red-shirt camp) and now this happening to Silom? I've heard that the shopkeepers in the area are mobilizing and ready to defend their homes and livelihoods though, which is great. Though I can already see that this'll just end with more injured, and more dead. AUGHHH.
My plan remains reaaaaaally hoping for the Singapore thing to work out (the lady won't be calling me tomorrow after all, and I'll just be dropping by for a face-to-face interview on the 28th, since we're going to Singapore regardless. Yay birthday present!).

...I now forgot what else I was going to say. OH RIGHT I AM WAAAAAAAAAY NOT DONE WITH PACKING AND MOST OF MY LAST ERRANDS YET. FUUUUCK. So gonna stay home and try to get this done on my last night in Vienna tomorrow, I don't care how anti-climatic it is.

This would've been a super cranky entry full of whining and general feelings of ~unease BUT I got to skype/call my parents earlier and perhaps most importantly talk to ♥CARMEN♥ after nearly a week and a half so now I am actually in a good mood again. It was great catching up and our moods continue to magically synchronize. We are apparently both in the throes of this weird wishy-washy and niggling feeling you get when you're not exactly "content" or happy with the general direction your life is taking, and not quite sure what to do about it. Well okay, in my case I am just in front of a large and blinking question mark and I am mostly psyching myself out with thinking up negative scenarios and also experiencing the usual YAY LET'S SEE PEOPLE and NO IMMA BE A SHUT-IN simultaneous social activity dichotomy that I sometimes go through. And I kind of am balking at the amount of packing I still have to do in these two weeks. TL;DR CONCLUSION: TIME TO SACK THE FUCK UP, SELF *rinse, repeat*

"They're Calling My Name" by secretlytodream is short but packs an epically creepy punch. The way the already quite unsettling song fits together with the editing and the coloring choices and ahhh fuck THAT ENDING. THIS VID AHHHHHH.

STAR TREK:
One of my greatest cliche loves is the genderswap trope, and to a large extent because I admit that I am fascinated by the thoughts behind visually adapting a current character's look/design and what their clothing/hair/body would translate to in the opposite sex. Obviously I expect that there should also be a bit more thought put into it if say, one were to write a genderswap fic, because man I think everyone has read one of these really simplistic and veering into insensitive and insulting depictions of "girliness"/"manliness"-- but just purely speaking on a shallow and pictorial level? THIS and HIGHSCHOOL/UNI!AUs are like my favorite things ever <33

Which is basically a long intro into the fact that oxboxer has made some brilliant ST genderswaps that are full of personality, with the added bonus of being ~fashionable ones that use actual clothes assembled together from Polyvore as a reference. SO GREATTTTT AHHH I LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE.
The DUDES (Girl!Spock is perfection and I want her outfit, and okay that is a statement that can be taken as a blanket one... though perhaps not Kirk's. Even if it is SUCH AN INSPIRED CHOICE ahhhhh ♥) and the LADIES (DAAAMN Male!Uhura is hot~ and the reference for GUYLA is hilari-awesome)

I have been on a roll of productivity today, which probably means that I will probably fail a lot at doing things tomorrow just so that the universe is balanced. It's amazing what one can actually accomplish in a day if you set your sights higher than "wash hair, eat lunch, spend 5 hours reading fic" lol. Though I sure hope that the crappery with trying to book my flight and having the credit card be denied from the bank in Thailand (?? wtf) will be resolved without much hassle. I just want my fucking plane ticket, jeez. Running these errands and the subsequent lunch with Olga was another nigh point in the day though, and I am already intensely looking forward to all the fun stuff we have planned for my remaining time here ♥
