A return to the PS2
May. 7th, 2005 01:08 am...which I seem to have neglected these past few weeks. One day I shall sit down and finally plough through what remains of FFX and KH for me. Yesh, indeed.
Have been reading various walkthroughs for the Silent Hill games, as the search for SH3 in Future Park was unsuccessfull(a big wtf? as every other time I was in a game shop there were countless copies, and this time I went in five different shops). This lead my half baked paranoid brain to formulate the theory that THE POWERS THAT BE didn't want me to play this game. And holy shit, reading the walkthrough(s) and plot analysis was creepy enough (and the preview pictures!!) ! Bleeding walls, phallic-symboled worms, dark enclosed spaces, random noises, corpses that moan out your name and zombie dogs, to name a few? I would have suffered multiple heart attacks and become even more of an insomniac than now...*twitches* Maybe one day I'll convince someone to play it when I'm in the room. Preferably at noon.
The plot in SH2 sounds hella interesting though...sin and redemption, battling your personal demons, the inherant fucked-upness of all the characters (James Sunderlands issues alone! Oha)...and the whole "subliminated sexual undercurrents of the hero that are embodied in the feminine appearance of most of the monsters" thing as described in the fascinating plot analysis here.
Devil may Cry 3 is on the other hand, much easier on my fragile heart, but hell on the fingers, as evidenced that I had to pause and shake my hands from their cramped state about fifteen minutes into the first mission. But evil difficulty aside, damn this game is cool. Be it Dante and Vergil(♥), the setting, the rocking music, the weaponry(double guns!! Shotguns! Large swords! Love!)...gah, the whole game screams STYLE, YO. And the demon beasties are categorized after the 7 levels of hell, which is the kind of thing I just find cool. (Probably why I was so obsessed with Angel Sanctuary...Angels and Demons and Humans?, oh my!)
Shall probably be trying to make my way through it this weekend...or playing Gran Turismo4/Burnout 3/Need for Speed Underground 2 with Dad and the new steering wheel. Whee, crashes!
PS the song came on by random! How appropiate~
PPS as shown by this post this page is an entirely time consuming place to be. Click on the linkies! The reviews! The movie previews~! *oohs and aahs*
