Thoughts, three
Aug. 24th, 2008 01:24 amBK MAG: No matter how much I bitch sometimes about getting burned out on this atm (ONE MORE WEEEEK), there is still something intensely gratifying to see your work in print with your own byline, especially if IT'S A BIG FAT PAGE!! Yes, in other news, my freaking train article has finally been printed! Totally kind of gave everyone I knew in BKK the heads-up to go check it out and make vaguely approving remarks in my direction, even if the content itself is as boring as shit, because really, trains?? Tried my best in writing it though, and apparently my, uh, 'writing voice' still shines through? Good to know. Was cute to find out from Ma that Na Paew actually went out and got herself a copy of BK just because of my article, though ^^v
Next up in the holy ~*ONE PAGE*~, or near it category is the Lookalike Speedracer thing and the Boutique Travel article I co-wrote with P'Tak and Bell, respectively and my Living: In Store feature on this Ubuntu Cafe. ...I guess I've been productive??
Time passing: Dinner at Chesa yesterday. Delicious food was had, as one would expect from the place(MMMH LAMBSHANK and Mövenpick ice cream for dessert!). Rene and Thomas were entertaining as always, and as more and more of Dad's colleagues trickled in and the highly amusing smack talk and bullshitting really started in earnest, I started wondering. How many people I know now will I still be in contact with in 20 years? Will I manage to keep it together enough that I'll still be seeing the people I consider really close friends now? How much would this really crumble away given the fact that yes, we all live scattered lives on different continents? Here's hoping for the healing power of the internets, holiday visits and the fact that some people will eventually settle down in BKK as well! Also a thought that I don't want to dwell too much upon is what the hell I will be up to in 20 years. 40. Wow, here's hoping I manage to become as pimping awesome as I vaguely aspire to (HIGH-FLYING LIFESTYLE Y/Y??)
/shallow: Anderson Cooper is really hot *points to icon*. But he's also first and foremost an eloquent dude, though his attractiveness just augments that, kind of like 'ooh whatta looker! ...who is funny and well-spoken (HE GIGGLES SO CUTELY). HMM I guess I'll have to pay attention to what he says when I am ogling him then'...Woes to never being able to catch his show whenever I switch on to CNN, though I figure it's because we get the Int'l Edition here. I found his book a really engrossing read-- damn boy, what a life you've led. I can't imagine ever wanting to be a war correspondent, but I guess that's why the journalistic path I am currently treading is also the froofy lifestyle magazine one. Whoops!
