kaiserkuchen: (Rukia! Schawiiing and kachiiing)

I have been on a roll of productivity today, which probably means that I will probably fail a lot at doing things tomorrow just so that the universe is balanced. It's amazing what one can actually accomplish in a day if you set your sights higher than "wash hair, eat lunch, spend 5 hours reading fic" lol. Though I sure hope that the crappery with trying to book my flight and having the credit card be denied from the bank in Thailand (?? wtf) will be resolved without much hassle. I just want my fucking plane ticket, jeez. Running these errands and the subsequent lunch with Olga was another nigh point in the day though, and I am already intensely looking forward to all the fun stuff we have planned for my remaining time here ♥

But before I forget, something I wanted to post about for aaaaaaaaages already: MUSIC to shaaaaare

A) Shaz's BEST-OF Thai music selection
Now some of you might already be acquainted with most of these, as I'd uploaded them before to my now-defunct Mediafire account. I was pimping some of my selection to [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf in early Feb, and the links still work so I thought I'd throw it up here if anyone is interested.

Personal favs:
♥ Tattoo Color - "Cinderella" ("First you transfixed me with your sweet gaze/Then you disappeared just like a ninja" and of course "Well then I'll just go home and cry" lol cutest lyrics everrr)
♥ The Richman Toy - "Lamnam Sading Love You" (IDK how to spell it out in English, but the contrast between the ohhh-ohh-ohh in the chorus and the singer's more jarring voice somehow gets to me. And the use of tradtional instruments in the beginning that is then replaced by the geeetar and drums)
♥ Moderndog - "Niyai", "Gorn" and "Busaba/Isarn Special" (HOW CAN I EVER CHOOSE BETWEEN MY FAVORITE MODERNDOG SONGS?? The way their songs either grip you with their lyrics, or the way the songs slowly build up to a crescendo or just what they do with the melodies asjkfhkasj)
♥ Silly Fools - "Khi Hueng" (The chorus will always make me want to yell along in joy)
♥ Mild - "Wan Yen" (A smooth and happy-making listen. I like the singer's voice somehow)

B) Random western music of awesome
A mix of things I either promised people five million years ago (lol [livejournal.com profile] laulan remember the David Cook conversation we were having LAST SUMMER oops) and things I enjoyed listening to these last few months nabbed from here and there.

Personal favs:
♥ Florence + the Machine - "Cosmic Love" and "Rabbit Heart (Raise it up) (Basically all Florence + the Machine songs are brilliant, and I am now reminded that I need to rip a version of "My Boy Builds Coffins" because fff that is fantastic as well. But these two never fail to give me the chills. Excellent)
♥ Phoenix - "Lisztomania" (I hope everyone has already heard and marveled at the children's choir cover of this song already?)
♥ Gavin DeGraw - "I Don't Want To Be" (I AM STILL NOT SICK OF WATCHING THAT ONE STEPHANE AT WORLDS CLIP)
♥ FrankMusik - "Gotta Boyfriend" (I dare anyone to listen to this and NOT have an earworm afterward *bops head*. The Tiesto song is also a similar candiate)
♥ Bigbang - "Haru Haru" (This and "Lies" were basically MY JAM for Summer '09 lol)

Hope y'all enjoy and let me know if links are borked or something!

And in conclusion, some more links of interest:
Genderswitched SPN casting ...the ladies chosen are all exceedingly cool, but how much do I love the choices for male!Ellen and Jo? AN INSANE AMOUNT :Db
"A Striking Position to Take: SPN and economic instability" ...I really enjoyed this essay/meta. Some excellent points and wonderfully articulated.

CHRIS PINE, PINE TREES AND PINEAPPLES .......GENIUS. THE END.

Omg the genderswitched SPN casting is amazing *___* ♥ Someone needs to do this for White Collar lol XD AND EVERY OTHER SHOW EVER. *greedy*

The essay/meta is awesome, too! I don't read a lot of meta, but that was really interesting and brought up some things that I've always been aware of, in the back of my mind, but never spent much time actually thinking about. Go smart!fans ♥

I KNOW, RIGHT?? There was actually a whole meme of gender-casting, and also CoC-casting recently, iirc! Some pretty awesome stuff, and I really liked the genderswitched recasting of Star Trek that I saw... I think [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn did it? Yvonne Strahowski is totally my female!Kirk now *_* AND I AGREE ABOUT THE WHITE COLLAR THING, but I wouldn't know where to start lol but I guess that's part of the challenge XDD

SO TRUE. I always kind of assumed people were aware of the class-issues that SPN also tackles, but uh apparently not! Which is why it's good that we have great meta like this. I'm also halfway through this essay (http://www.genders.org/g47/g47_wright.html) that I found linked on [livejournal.com profile] amonitrate's LJ and it's been pretty fascinating so far, too.

Hope you enjoy the goods! And uh if for some reason you want to know what some of the songs are about I can totally summarize em or give ad-hoc translations or something (I know I am sometimes curious and too lazy to google for like the K-Pop I listen to myself).

IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD ahhhhhhhh chillsssss I must admit that the original now kinda pales in comparison to the kid's version for me tbqh.... <33
