kaiserkuchen: (Federer! Super fresh and super spry)
ONE:This is probably going to make me sound like some secret 80 year-old woman, but wow does my back hurt. It's times like these where I imagine having a boyfriend would be handy-- I mean, assuming the dude is the type to offer these things. It's always boggled me a bit that some of my couple-y friends have said that their SO is not so much with the willing massaging, I'd always figured that this would be one of the more awesome things to do with your relationship partner, besides the obvious?? Hmm. Regardless! Fuck that, I'mma go get me a professional Thai massage again soon~~

TWO: I am reaching a good equilibrium with the internship, methinks. I still don't really know how to connect with the staff correctly, something all the more obvious when one of the ex-interns came and helped out with an event launch at the VIE Hotel today ([livejournal.com profile] charlie_d_blue, this was the hotel you stayed at, right?) and everyone was suddenly so bubbly, fun and saucy with each other. But! That ex-intern was pretty awesome and friendly in her own right, and I am thankfully past that part in my life where I would have been wracked in throes of intense self-doubt because I couldn't deal with the idea that people didn't like me/find me dull and uninteresting, omg *eyeroll*.

AND! I actually got praise from the Media clipping P' for doing something I thought self-evident, but apparently none of the previous five interns managed to consider: ARRANGING THE FINISHED CLIPPINGS IN NUMERICAL PAGE ORDER. Whut. And apparently I do what at least three of them were doing in the same or even less time. It is surprisingly pleasant work, as far as menial tasks go. Also, I WONDER HOW MY TRANSLATED SCOOP WENT THIS TIME, ahhh I will get this P' to be happy with my work if its the last thing I do here. *shakes fist*

THREE: Since the event meant an earlier leave for us + since it was near six and around Siam I could leave immediately without returning to the office, I went for a smidgen of shopping. My ultimate goal? ~*A ROGER FEDERER NIKE DUFFEL BAG*~. But what I failed to consider was the actually quite obvious fact that it would be a cold chance in hell to get such a specialized collection in your average Nike store, especially for Tennis. DURRR. Obscure footie crap might even be more likely, given the obsession in this country. So with a heavy heart and lots of grumbling to the hapless staff, I ended up buying a boring, normal red one. Oh well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED and all, but I still yearn for the pizzazz that the Fed bag would've sprinkled over the quotidian task of lugging my larger amounts of stuff around.

*REALLY SHAKES FIST AT NIKE STORE, for futility's sake*
kaiserkuchen: (Federer! Super fresh and super spry)
ROGER FEDERER WON THE FRENCH OPEN ♥!!!

OH MY GOD HE FINALLY MADE IT. OH MY GOD ROGER ♥ ♥!! OH MY GOD I AM SO HAPPY, SO PSYCHED. THIS IS BRILLIANT. HE EQUALIZED SAMPRAS' RECORD, AND IS STILL 4 YEARS YOUNGER THAN PETE WAS. OH MY GOD.

GOD I NEED PICTURES STAT!!
kaiserkuchen: (Federer! Awesomeness in motion)
The MORNING started off on a lovely note, as Ma and Andy overslept and we didn't have to go merit making at 5am! The bad thing is we are doing so tomorrow which means I should be long asleep now WHOOPS. Gave Ma a congratulatory hugggggg and I LOVE YOUUUU, and handed her the present --a dazzling feat of uncreativity of my part this year, woe is me who actually bought my mother a tiny stuffed cat that kind of maybe looks like AJ and a set of cat-shaped paperclips, as well as a (suprisingly cool) hedgehog-shaped paperclip magnet holder. Why? Because Ma's Thai nickname is "Meow" of course! Lol faiiiil. The original plan of a swank jewellery box went up in flames once Ma happily showed me the one she already bought for herself (oh how I mentally screamed CURSSSSSSES and yet was also happy I hadn't actually got one already yet because I was lazy).

BUT THEN I switched on the TV and was greeted by the twin news of A)finally managing to tune in to Anderson Cooper 360 on time on CNN  and B) finding out ROGER FEDERER WON THE US OPEN!!!1!!!ELEVENTY!!!!!1 Go Rog! Fuck yeah, and how he beat- no,  trounced Andy Murray! Man I hope that match comes up on rerun on True's sportschannels at some point akjhaskf. And it is intensely validating to go around and read all the news articles now on how MAAAAYBE the pundits were all a little bit too hasty in writing off Federer. Well, duh you fooools. The US Open official website has some nice articles, as well as a cool "Top 50 Expected and Unexpected Moments of the US Open 08" page, that amongst other hilarity features this on Federer: "EXPECTED: Federer glides silently about the court UNEXPECTED: Emits howls & screams in anguish in several languages" ...ahaha this still makes me giggle when I read it XDD

The AFTERNOON was spent tagging along Ma and Andy's grand shopping tour for the new house, with the looong waits being made bearable by playing copious amounts of Pokemon Trozei!, addictive little game that is, and bumming around in BigC. Made the most extraordinary find when the cheap-ass export clothes shop I checked out of boredom turned out to have American Eagle Outfitter(or however that brand is called), GAP, H&M and Old Navy tops and longsleeves... for an average price of 79-150 baht. AND THEY WERE ALL SO AWESOME. Ended up getting 5 ytops for around 550 baht, which is the average price you might pay for ONE standard local brand top here. AHH :D. The shopping experience was made all the sweeter because the going US dollar/Euro prices were also still attached, so in your face 15 Euro H&M white wool v-neck! I got you for 150 fricken baaaht! *shopping gleeee*

The EVENING was spent prepping for and then going for a delightful and utterly delicious dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi Hotel aka THE CASTLE IN THE SKYYYY. God, it is even more imposing and gorgeous at night, with scores of little candles lighting the way to the main Chedi-building-type thing and you get carted around in a chaffeured pimped-out golf cart and the staff! Oh the staff are so fantastically attentive, it actually makes you feel really bad to be served on hand and foot. I requested some mosquito spray becase we were dining outside (Mediterrean food, mhhh) and the lady just about kneeled on the floor and was ready to spray my legs for me before I could stop gaping. Akjhdskjh. The food was sheer poetry, from starting course to dessert. Had thinly sliced extra-virgin olive oil -marinated tuna with endive salad for starters, RACK OF LAAAAAAAAAMB (SO TENDER) with rosemary jus, grilled potatoes and ratatouille for main and topped that off with some warm rosemary cake and lemon sorbet (it had candied rosemary sprigs! Which were quite tasty mhhh) and a salty caramel macaroon that was chewy and delightful. Still didn't manage to finish my ONE glass of wine throughout the entire meal though, ahh a drinker I am not and apparently will never be.

ALSO one last LOLYEAH before I go pass out in bed regarding Thai politics: SAMAK BAI BAI. Lolol I love how his cooking show eventually came to kick him right back in the ass. Yessss.
kaiserkuchen: (Dean! Drama-lama-rama baby)
SO THIS FRIDAY, I went to make my Thai passport with Ma. Were promptly served a number in the waiting room, got to a desk quite chop chop and thus set to fill out the various forms in Thai and English. All went well enough, except for the following two ..situations:

#1
LADY AT DESK: Before I input this data, I need your consent that the information is correct, and you are standing by this unorthodox and incorrect spelling.
SHAZ: Huh what? Did I misspell my last name in thai again ahaha this happens all the- WAIT a minute, why are you pointing at my English name?
LaD: This is wrong, there shouldn't be an "H" here.
SHAZ: ......what uh no. There should. I should know. It being my name and all.
LaD: Are you quite sure?
SHAZ: YES.
LaD: *IMPASSIVE STARE* So please sign here to prove that you have seen and approved of this incorrect spelling.
SHAZ: Grkkkk-- okay fine HERE.

I mean, "SARON"? That isn't even a Thai name, if my uh, very western last name didn't hint at that already. "CHARON" I could have bought as an alternative, but "SARON" just seems one "U" away from ~*SAURON*~ to me.

#2
DUDE MEASURING HEIGHT: Okay, please stand here. HEIGHT: 176cms!
SHAZ: What! No wait, you must be mistaken, I'm actually taller than this. RETAKE IT.
MA: Sharon! Sit down and stop being such a baby!
SHAZ: MA I AM NOT 3CMS SHORTER THAN I ACTUALLY AM THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR MY SELF ESTEEM OKAY I NEED TO RETAKE THIS.
DMH: Whatever. *redoes* HEIGHT: 176cms! Look.
SHAZ: I REJECT THIS REALITY, there is obviously something wrong with your measuring thing.
MA: This is the standardized Thai national height measure, Sharon.
SHAZ: SHUN THE NONBELIEVER, SHUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNah

(the next day at the BRH hospital for my vacc)
SHAZ: So nurse, could you also measure my height please?
NURSE: ...HEIGHT: 176cms!
SHAZ: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooOOooOOoOoooooooooo

Fucking hell, where did I get the notion I was taller? I liked being 179cms! Now I'm just ...on the large size of average, instead of being a short tall person. URGH. It is amazing how much I was actually at turns pissed off and really sad at this, lolol Dad kept making fun of meeee.

Cut for blather and What's up UP NORTHHHH )

ALSO: FEDERER IN US OPEN FINALS WOOOOOOO and AUSTRIA FUCKING BEATS FRANCE AT FOOTBALL 3:1 AHAHAHAHAHAHA FANTASTIC
kaiserkuchen: (Federer! Super fresh and super spry)
Have finally Tennis-ized my usericons now, along with a batch of animated SPN icons I could not resist. OH DEAN, Y U SO FINE. But yes, now I may gaze at the amazing dorkness(also seen HERE) that goes along with Roger Federer's super smoooth visage. Dude is hot, one cannot deny. And that one 'King Arthur' shot that Annie Leibovitz made is also currently gracing my desktop wallpaper now, mhhh mythology and a nice picture make for often minimizing my open programs and just staring at the desktop screen ♥

Oh, and meant to write that I got to see Mamma Mia! the other day. Spent half of the movie laughing out of sheer delight because of the rampant YAY! and HAPPY! and come on, who can truly hate ABBA songs? But the second half was also spent wincing in embarassment, because OH MY GOD, Pierce Brosnan cannot sing. And he keeps getting all these duets with Meryl Streep! Ashkjfhas! Stellan Skarsgard also cannot sing, but at least he doesn't get as much lines. Colin Firth, my ~*main reason*~ to actually watch the movie, manages to carry a tune, though more of the 'strumming along with my acoustic guitar' type. It was so much fun seeing him SMILE so much in a movie though, and I was positively wiggling in GLEE everytime he was onscreen. Greece was GORGEOUS in the movie and Amanda Seyfried is tiny and CUTE and I bet her smile can also power small countries. People were also mostly skimpily clad and wet in the movie, which is always a bonus, though I think I have seen my quota of naked middle-aged man chest for a while. My love for Colin Firth apparently is strongest when he is fully clothed, thank you very much XDD

Will be heading off to see Ma and Andy later today, and then onwards to Chiang Mai until next Friday! Internet shall undoubtably be had, though maybe not so much this weekend. Just a heaaaaads-up :Db

HACH SPORT

Aug. 17th, 2008 08:57 pm
kaiserkuchen: (Sakura! OH NOES fangirlism revealed!!1)
Channel-zapping proved to be very nice today, as I managed to stumble on the live coverage of the Mens Single's Final in Tennis, which even then kept switching suddenly to other sports ajshfjfk fucking hell. BUT! GO NADALLLL, you winning machine! Watching him play is a whole 'nother way of 'easy on the eyes', AKA I feel more shallow because I am mostly ogling him than when watching Federer, though both are exceedingly awesome players and Nadal's way of flopping to the ground after victory is always super endearing~. Man, this year really is a year like none other for Spanish sport. I wasn't really sure about when the Mens Doubles were decided, but now the internet tells me it already happened yesterday and FEDERER&WRAWINKA WON!!!! YES! Wish I could've watched that game, but yaaay for Federer! At least now maybe the haters will stop dogpiling the poor guy a bit...
Reading this article about their victory was super cute, though, "“The thing is, I can’t just hug a stranger when I win singles,” a beaming Federer told reporters after finally winning the Olympic medal he craved", eeee ♥. The CNN article also had a very amusing description a la 'after embracing in victory, Federer and Wrawinka proceed to hop around' lollll. This pic is also adorable in a wtf strange Swiss victory ritual way. And VICTORY HOPPING, jfsakjmf. In conclusion, yay for Happy!Federer :Db.
kaiserkuchen: (Mr. Darcy! Oh My~)
Ironic how the games are finally in a timezone that is currently A+ practical for me to watch, yet the most I do besides catching glimpses on the local news is halfheartedly scanning the Sports section of every day's Bangkok Post. Was rooting for Federer to rally up again after what seems to be a pretty harsh losing streak (compared to his admittedly extremely high standards) and reading that he's out of the tennis singles was kind of depressing. What a shit season this has been for him so far (even if EPIC Wimbledon final was EPIC)! And holy hell is Nadal in stunning form. I am torn between wanting him to win Gold now because I do like him, my ever burning love for Federer aside, and actually wanting some other dude to get it, so there at least isn't THAT great a gaping chasm between Nadal and Federer. There are even sports op-ed pieces I've read online that are asking if Federer's 'washed up' already... um, wtf?? How many years has he spent at the top? How skillful is his tennis game when he's in top form? Tss. I can't even imagine how much one would beat ones self up in the same situation, dude seems like the type to get all self-recriminatory, too. FINGERS CROSSED ROGERRRRR ♥!

And now to pervert that quite innocently fangirling paragraph, I shall now admit that I actually stumbled across the sordid world of ........tennis RPS yesterday. I like clicking on links to shipping manifestos generally, because at the very least there are always amusing and or interesting facts and pictures to look at and hey, nice pics of Roger Federer in his swank Wimbledon get-up? Always up for that. But then. I see a that [livejournal.com profile] louiselux has written some fics. 'Oooooh' the lizard-brain goes 'now that's a good author. LET'S CHECK IT OUT 8DD'. And lo and behold, it was really, really good. And extremely hot. BUT I FELT SO GUILTY READING IT ORZ. It was such a novel feeling, actually catching myself going 'lalala this just normal lalala OGOD WHY DO I FEEL SO DIRTY AHHHH WHY IS THIS GOOD akjsfdhaf *scrolls down some more*'. I mean, CW Network and SPN RPS? Love it! Random RPS-- if I trust the author's fic skill and like the actors involved? Why not! AI RPS? Surprisingly enjoyed guiltfree and with much teeheeing (god [livejournal.com profile] astolat's stuff is amazing)! ...so it was interesting finding that elusive feeling of awkward squirmyness again, heh.

BUT in contrast, the latest offering by the skillful [livejournal.com profile] hackthis is some Olympian porn that can be enjoyed 100% guilt-free, about the two super fine French swimmers I know absolutely nothing about that can be ogled here. MHHH, Clement Lefert, you gots a purdy face (that your NBC profile does no favors to! AND HELLO 1987 ACE AGE RANGE :DD). And what a smashing hot swimmer's bod, Jesus Christ. Almost all of the pics I've seen of the male swimmers have their trunks basically failing at keeping a modicum of decency and makes everything veer into vaguely seedy manporn territory, something which I wholeheartedly approve of. (Michael Phelps' TORSO and his amazing low riding pants of wow-this-is-really-low :Db)

WHOOPS THIS IS PAST MIDNIGHT AGAIN. Man am I looking forward to being a zombie tomorrow!
kaiserkuchen: (Jin! V for motherfuckin' VICTORY!)
~~2 things that have brightened up my existance this past week(or so)~~

1) ...suprisingly, Tennis! And by which I don't mean watching eps of Tenipuri or reading the manga, although I imagine that would be fun too- I'm talking about *gasp* RL Tennis, or more specifically the US Open. Got to watch Federer in the semis against Blake and in the finals versus Roddick and hooooly shit, I have never been more at the edge of my seat watching any type of sports matches before.
Watching Federer play is simply a joy. The man knows his tennis, and oh, some of the shots he played ...So skillful and elegant! Plus when he was matched up against Roddick, who is also a fun player to watch, what with those smashing serves of his ...ahh it was all the more exciting to watch as a spectator~ ♥ ♥
(something I haven’t actively done since the nineties as a wee kid with Sampras and Michael Chang(Asians represent!)...ahh how I used to love tennis)

Bits from the match that amused me:
_ the also very random, yet amusing anecdotes of the german voiceover announcer, and thanks to him I now know that Roddick is, amongst others, a very fast eater and that he was kinda a precocious brat who once signed a bunch of tennis balls when he was six, gave them to a friend and said 'keep these, they'll be worth tons when I'm older'... which is actually quite adorable (...and probably true, too!)
_ the times that Roddick kept changing his shirt- at least three times during a two hour match... I mean, maybe it's normal for some players but it just stood out more compared to Federer just chilling in his seat, wearing his same old shirt (...and leisurely scratching himself as Roddick is already on court waiting for the break to be over XDD)

...long squee short, I personally think that ‘King Roger’ is awesome and a really nice, sympathetic guy who plays mindblowingly good tennis and that he should go on and break all records ever. And the weird thing is, even if I don’t watch his next few matches... just the thought that somewhere out there Roger Federer is kicking major tennis ass makes me happy. Like all is right with the world or something ^^V

Also: There is apparently a Federer beanie baby/Teddy bear, dressed in a blue shirt with a #1 on the back with a headband and a red racket ...and goddammit it is adorable and I waaaantssss it preciousssss DDD:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

2) DVDs
When nightfall reaches the Austrian province...and the nightly TV schedule is basically crap warmed over, nothing saves one from boredom more than rewatching one’s entire DVD collection. (Since of course I am somehow incapable to just go to sleep before 3AM noooo)
I also relearned the lesson that watching Brokeback Mountain right before going to bed is also a bad idea, as being huddled in front of my laptop, clutching my stuffed turtle(IKEA is awesome) and sobbing my eyes out ... leads to a very extreme case of puffy eyes the next day and my Oma thinking weird things about what I do in my room. ...but it’s either that or funny stuff and apparently that too is also weird thought-inducing because one can hear my mad cackling when I decide to marathon Scrubs or Samurai Champloo(THE BASEBALL EP AHAHAHA OMG WHUUT XDDD) in the hallway as well....
You just can’t win, I guess :P Wish I had some Everwood eps or Nip/Tuck...such a shiny interesting show, that the german dub didn’t manage to fuck up like it does to House(...*brrr* I believe that like it is the case with Alan Rickman, dubbing Hugh Laurie’s voice should be a crime). And the Ducklings are ‘Sie’zing each other, how stiff is that? Not to mention that the guys dub voices all sound the same. URGH.

Oh and I WANNA WATCH 'DAS PARFÜM' D: D: D: ...in english though! *curses lack of kino in 60km radius*

AND YAAAY WELCOME BACK TO NET-LAND KAT DEAR ♥ :D :D :D
kaiserkuchen: (Default)
...and I'm still surfing the net. Well. AXN does has awfully lame and redundant commercials after all...

Also: surfing for Shirota pics I must say that there really should be more of him actually smiling instead of making smouldering-type faces at the camera. Because whilst he does do so quite nicely, his smile truly is something else ♥

And I discovered part of the reason why the rest of the cast does absolutely nothing to me in terms of looks is that I have difficulties squeeing over someone that mostly has far girlier eyebrows/features etc than me. Ah well. Shirota remains delightfully masculine~

..Ooh look at the time! *saunters down to TV*

PS Found out that Supaa Sekrit Present from austrian relatives was a tidy sum of cash. Ooh yes ♥~ (Altho it speaks volumes about my lack of rudimentary math skills that I had to use a calculator to convert the Euros to Baht... XD)
kaiserkuchen: (Naruto oh so fucking adoorable)
...yet it feeeels so good~!

...am still all TeniMyu'd and am now watching the/an actual Musical (Hyoutei Imperial March) that someone posted up in segments. Um. Unsubbed even :3

Also:
"Hyoutei 5th Backstage" _part of this might be familiar- the quick bit where Shirota kinda tries to squish Kato whilst making that "Nyanyanyaa~" noise? Happens like in the beginning of this. Around six minutes in total, personal amusement highlights for me were where 'Tezuka' and 'Ryoma' make girly 'nee?' gestures at the camera(ahahahaha this needs to be iconed), Kato 'conducting' the music from the backstage area and haaaaaaaaah the Kato and Shirota interaction that happens around the second minute or so. Hot...♥ Shirota is so adorable and I think I'll be buying the DVDs of some of the j-dorama I bet he's in (Hice Cool was it?). Damn I never thought I'd ever do so again after Gokusen... XD

...I should prolly go look for LJ-comms huh?
kaiserkuchen: (Tidus! Eeee!)
...my god these Tenimyu songs are so damnably CATCHY and HAPPY and I am still cracking up even after *cough* multiple viewings... Must attempt to learn the names of the various ones and see how to get my hands on the DVDs where Shirota Yuu is Tezuka and Kazuki Kato is Atobe...
Ahhh, Hyoutei! Ahh, Atobe ♥! My second Buchou and Rival School-love in PoT~ He is just such a fabulous DIVA and he knows it and has the mad tennis skills to back it up. Kato does a fabulous job as him, the haughty looks! The fruity dramatic hand gestures! And after listening to a few of the songs, i must say that he has one of the better voices, too.

Here are some more links, Kat I hope YouTube loads for you now? DDD:?
PS. Atobe is the dude with the silver hair who is obv. the most awesome, also gets lots of solo parts cuz =Team Captain yaaay~!
"Do Your Best" _sung by Hyoutei Regulars, with Yamabuki and assorted peeps joining in ...and to the very end Seigaku, too~

"Ore-sama no Boogie Woogie" _AHAHAHAHA I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH XDDD ...*ahem* sung by Atobe of course~! I...just adore the little kick and spin thing he does in this vid so much XDD *GLEE*

Quick Curtain Call scene _...*snrrrrk* socute! And man, Shirota is tall

"Kouri no Emperor" _sung by Hyouteeei~! This one's even subbed for added omg AWESOME I can understaaand the lyrics! factor. The beginning skit! Mwahaha :3 ...also, the very last moment? "The winner is....me"? WINS

...just WTF XDDD _Shirota is obviously on some kind of crack (♥) and prolonged watching of all this is slowly warping my view of Tezuka, whuuut O.o;;

"Power UP! Ikuzo" _now for some Seigaku for variety! The dancing is just so cheestastically beautiful here... and the last few moments are funny, too~

...oh man, what was I going to do now? Ahehehe *is distracted liek wooah* :DDD
