You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when!?" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.
If you like, copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.
FIRST NAME: "Sharon Maria" if we're going by what is on my passport, "Sharon" for actual normal RL usage, though some of my friends like nicknames and do use things like "Sharonski" or the "Shaz" that is my main nickname which I also mostly use for the interwebs, THOUGH I ADMIT THAT THE FACT THAT "KAZ" HAS CAUGHT ON SO WELL FOR MY SPAMTHREAD POSSE LADIES MAKES ME ALL WARM AND FUZZY ♥.
AGE: 21. I KEEP FORGETTING I AM NOT 18 ANYMORE LOL.
LOCATION: A blissfully SABRINA-LESS ATM DORM in the beautiful city of Vienna, Austria at the moment! Though my heart will always yearn for the ease, and the bustle of Asia and Bangkok ♥.
OCCUPATION: A student in her last semester of university who should technically be doing more with the VAST AMOUNTS OF FREE TIME that she has and keeps frittering away. At least it is spent doing fun things? I remember how I always figured I'd get a part-time job during uni for funsies in my second semester or something, but lol so much for that.
PARTNER: N/A and will probably not be changing for a while until I manage to either get over my weird body self-confidence issues or start going out more and actually meeting dudes who aren't strange, short or non-sparky. I would be lying if I said I didn't experience occasional ~~longings~~ every now and then, but generally I am totally happy with my single life at the moment as it is, and doing just about everything with Carmen (food outings! traveling! long walks in parks and through town! watching DVDs! cooking!) and to a latter extent some of my other friends is pretty damn awesome, too.
KIDS: ...I assume that when my time comes I will utterly love my kid and possibly be weirdly clingy or at least try to have the best relationship I can with the bratling, but right now? Children honestly make me kind of uncomfortable. I can appreciate them as cute and all enough, but I suppose that I didn't have enough young children around me enough when I grew up? I have no idea how to handle kids or babies, I don't have the urge to coo or desire to be around them most of the time, I feel exceedingly awkward around them and to be quite honest, I don't actually have the patience necessary for it. WHICH IS WHY IT IS ALWAYS ~~GREAT~~ WITH MY TINY COUSIN lolol oh man, but I think her case is also due to the double-serving of attitude and sass she has >_>;; At least Verena is just as bad with her!
BROTHERS/SISTERS: ONLY CHIIIIIIILD and happy with it! I do have step-siblings from both my parents re-marriages, but I have never actually met Chris yet (Andy's son), who looks like a hoot and a half based on his crazy FB pics and shenanigans like a constant obsession with "noodlin'" and things like "MOUSTACHE MAY" (complete with his female friends dissing him like hell on his pictures lolol). Also, though he is like 30 years old, he is 6'5 and used to be a personal trainer and is thus buff as fuck.
My other step-bro is Ae (Sue's son) who is four years younger than me, and we actually lived in the same house for nearly two years, but since the dude is such a non-talker, our conversations were always stuck on the level of "You using the computer later?" "Nope." or "Hey, can I have the PS2 after you're done?" "Sure." ....and the sad thing is, he is actually a pretty interesting dude! Top of his class, student council member, plays acoustic and electric guitar, the trumpet AND sings in two bands, is an IT whiz, has a discerning enough palate and sense of taste that my Dad is impressed and apparently is so vital to his school that he already basically finangled a deal to do his mandatory army exercises now so that after he graduates high school, he can go on the fast track to one of the best universities in Bangkok. How did I find this out? Through trickle-down info that Sue tells Dad, as he is just as stumped by Ae's non-chattiness lol. Although I must say that the past year has shown improvement! Especially after he got to experience the mind-searing boredom of holidays at my grandparent's place-- which is actually what got 14-year old me to first really warm up to Sue, all those years ago.
PETS: None here atm, even my Aloe Vera plant Franzl is now basically in Miss Olga's more capable hands. I do count my parent's pets as mine too though and mention them here pretty often. AJ and Carrot are my Mom's cats, and there are Rotties Nero and Ace at Dad's place, as well as our aggro turtles Fook the II and You, and the vegetarian pack of dogs at our ~country ranch~ and the flock of chickens.
LIST THE 3/5 BIGGEST THINGS GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE:
!! Needing to finish uni by this February OR BUST, JESUS CHRIST, and all the work, whining and flailing that goes with that.
!! Trying to figure out what the fuck I will be doing afterwards, the prep work in applying to places here and elsewhere (that I will probably bitch about in another post) and translating my CV and writing cover letters in German. ALSO FIGURING OUT WHEN I CAN BE IN BANGKOK FOR A MONTH NEXT YEAR FUCKING HELL I NEED TO GO HOOOOOOOME.
!! COMPLETING MY YULETART AND SPN_J2_XMAS ASSIGNMENTSSSS, random art I still owe people since MONTHS BACK lol shit
!! Enjoying the most of my time here left with ♥Carmen♥, our travel plans and general Vienna plans of awesome.
!! Trying to do enough with my other friends here, maintain and further nourish some of the newer ones and plan meet-ups and such fun things.
PARENTS: My parents divorced nearly 14 years ago, and have since both remarried and I must say now that it is the best thing that could have happened to both of them. I have an excellent relationship with both, though I would classify myself as way more closer to my Mom. She is just a kickass lady who has been through a lot, and I am so happy that she can now relax and be as chill and high-society as she wants and has Andy to dote on her like crazy. Ma and I shared small studio apartments together, we had an ill-advised houseshare with friend of hers who turned out to be a ~scandalous slutbag~ and Ma worked like hell throughout but always had enough time for me and still managed to look fabulous 24-7. And if I had to spend lots of time hanging around offices? That was the best part of it all ♥ Both my parents actually have a hardcore work-ethic and clear goals in common: Ma went beyond the lackluster (if at all!) support of her parents to get her Bachelor's in English, followed her interests and taught herself the language to such an extent that she could work in a 5-star hotel, and still has impeccable fluency far beyond some of the people who got their MBAs from the States or whatever now have.
Dad decided that he wanted out from his cowtown early on, and thus went beyond the usual jobs and independently worked his way up to become a chef from the age of 15 onwards. He moved to bigger and better hotels throughout Austria, decided to fly to work in a hotel in Bermuda even when he didn't know where it precisely was at the time (and his old school 50's/60's school atlas DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE ISLAND PICTURED) and then made it on to Detroit, Vancouver and then throughout Southeast Asia. He worked hard and played even harder, and some of the stuff he has now deemed "appropriate" to finally share with me is just what I would normally think is the crazy shit you see on TV. Having a girlfriend break-up with him because he decided to drunkenly ski down a flight of stairs to impress her! Getting high with the Dutch Ambassador's daughter in Jakarta! Running a race up a high-rise in Hong Kong! Nearly getting shot at in Detroit! Accidentally getting mistaken for an on-the-run murderer and taken into a police station for questioning while on holiday in Louisiana! ...and of course, there are also the legit awesome stories at work like how he has met loads of the Thai Royal Family already and cooked for Princess Di and Prince Charles during the 80s in Canada.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS? Like everyone else who answered, I also have different groups of friends. I am actually still in pretty good contact with some of my old Bangkok Swiss Sec classmates that I didn't graduate with (Angie! La! Kat, I am still counting you goddammit), some of the ones I graduated with or who were a year under me (Migel, Jo, ...am just counting Chris, Khan and Sven too) and my English Sec ladies (Patty, Ginger, Ploy). Currently, I have my Uni Wien peeps here, Carmen obviously being my dearest and bestest partner in crime from basically my first semester of uni onwards. Hazel, Marius, Wido and Clemens, douche-tastic as though the latter might have become are also important and Olga straddles the divide between RL in personnn darling and LJ presence in my life (we are multimedia, bb!). I think I have a good thing going on with Romana and Daniela that can be built upon, and some friends I need to see more of like Michelle and Elli.
AND THEN THERE IS THE INTERNET ♥. Oh internet ladies, how you have broadened my horizons, how you make life more fun when no one else understands about fandom, and how much I cherish the fact that the boundaries between LJ fandom friendships have blurred and become basically RL friendships that are just missing that actual face-to-face meet-up. I love getting to send post to people, I love spamming and flailing with random-ass smses, I love having extended skype sessions, enabling each other into fandoms or having the MOST EPIC GMAIL EMAILS EVERRRR ♥ My life is truly richer thanks to this LJ, and I wouldn't have it any other way.Though it does remind me to be more proactive in emailing or FBing some of my BKK people lol whoops XDD

Date: 2009-11-26 03:48 pm (UTC)My ideal job would be something in an advertising agency, preferably in Accounts or Brand management, though I think that Client Services is also fascinating. In my dream world, it's also one of the big agencies, and I'd be able to work in the different offices Europe- or worldwide at some point. My biggest fear is to give in to the lazy person inside of me and be stuck here for another 4 years, even if I love this city in my own way. Back-up plans that I know I could technically do besides random office jobs for the cash-money are PR agency work, or Magazine writing, though if I am gonna be getting a crappy salary in the beginning anyways, it should damn well be something I adore, ergo advertising XDD
Will you be doing this meme, toooo? :DD

Date: 2009-11-27 02:03 am (UTC)I love the way you describe your parents and your time with them - SO MUCH LOVE OOZING OFF THE SCREEN. I need to meet your mother, ahaa - she sounds kick awesome (also, living in apartment with a ~~scandalous slutbug?? I NEED TO KNOW MORE). ALSO, HOW HAS YOUR DAD DONE EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD? lol
I think having so many internetty friends has actually made me better at keeping in touch with my IRL friends I don't see as often - it's like, if I can maintain a legit friendship with people I'll never see or chat with in person, what's my excuse for letting something die that was at one time based on a face-to-face? 'Cause really (well apart from text messaging, but I include that in the 'keeping in touch' folder) all les SPAM LADIES have is the internet, and we manage to be relatively friendship-involved, so in a way I think it's motivated me to keep in touch and contact a lot of other people more often.
Plus if I'm on the internet all the time anywaysHERE! HAVE ADAM, BECAUSE THE AWESOME CANADIAN 'FAB' MAGAZINE DID A TOTALLY ADORBS AND AMAZING PHONE INTERVIEW W HIM SO I AM HAPPY.
I kept getting distracted by the wings on Adam's butt :DD
Date: 2009-11-27 04:11 pm (UTC)Sometimes in school I had moments where I compared myself to classmates and wondered if I was "normal" in loving to spend so much time with my parents vs. holidays with friends and all that, and I gotta say that I still prefer doing the former in most cases. Family is awesome and comforting and as an added bonus, they paaaaay for all your food expenses ;DD As for my mom, if you ever head over to Thailand when I am there too, you totally could crash in our swank casa up north-- consider this as your invitation ♥
And lol, the slutbag story is waaay long and convoluted, but suffice to say that she was a former friend who ended up using Ma's office as a dating service and slept with a few of Ma's colleagues (and an 18 yr old ward of a colleague) WITHOUT telling Ma and in some cases actually denying it to her face, and also at the same time had her own boyfriends/boy-toys on the side. Eventually Shit Got Down (AIDs scare! Her main boyf found out about the others! Near case of domestic violence!) and because initial attempts to try and help her get her life together failed, Ma broke off the contact. THIS SOUNDS SO DRAMATIC, I know >_>;;
You make a very interesting and true point with this, though I actually think that for me, it has made me a bit more lazier in certain aspects of RL friendship upkeep. I mean, I assume that by general standards it is still good contact, but most of my RL non-Vienna friends that aren't on FB or skype all the time are sió very tech-shy. SIGHHHH. Normally I would just spam them via email with rambling letters of what is up with me-- something that I tend to do on LJ instead now, and have the bonus of adding fandom/slash-y notes to it that I would have to omit otherwise. Add the fact that I solely communicate with some over skype and I have all this different mini groups that can't be neatly served with regular info-mails now lol so confusing to keep straight who knows what already XDD. It's a good thing most of them live in Europe and we can meet-up in person at least once a year, or I'd be even more at a loss. And sometimes I do wish we'd be in better contact, but jeebus christ it's like some people are allergic to writing LONG or at least more than 2 brief paragraph emails about what is up with their lives. Tss!

Date: 2009-11-27 10:01 pm (UTC)And SO much word re: last paragraph. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I was to stumble across fandom and LJ way back when. I think I'd be a different person now if I hadn't.
And I'll totally write all the other comments I owe you some time very soon! *is a lazy slob*

Date: 2009-11-28 01:04 am (UTC)I ....honestly can't imagine how I would've turned out without fandom and especially once I started being a little bit more active and actually made friends through it that eventually became "RL friends", too. I probably would've been more annoyed and frustrated in general and wrt to my hobbies and ~self expression~ because I have always been surrounded by non-fannish people, aughhh XDD
Heh, and dude, take your time! :Db I am also slow as fuck sometimes with replying to comments, one's motivation comes and goes, and sometimes you just just plain distracted lol whoops
