...but never actually get around to doing, because the past week and change has been chock full of GRADE A work dramarama bullshit and my attempts at dealing by diving headfirst into distractions and MOAR TV. Loy Krathong last weekend was pretty damn fabulous though, and did wonders for my mood... will post pics soonish, probably as a form of procrastination** from my next looming deadline: .......YULETART *DRAMATIC MUSIC*

**today's procrastination (DAY OFF WORK YESS), broken down:
-went to the gym with I.
-decided to go watch Captain Fine in Unstoppable, which honestly was a very solidly entertaining action movie. How they made trains! and railroads! and railway infrastructure! interesting was just about the biggest shock for me. AND OF COURSE, SEEING CPINE'S FACE ON A GIANT MOVIE SCREEN = money well spent. What I didn't expect was the amount of ass Rosario Dawson's character would kick though, so no-nonsense and awesome <33 And as an added bonus since I just rewatched last weeks episode of Community this morning: PROFESSOR PROFESSORSON is in it, too :DDD
-ran some errands, bought dinner and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert (OM NOM NOM)
-ate dinner and read 20K of Hawaii Five-0 fic and moar Glee fic. Watched Darren Criss being a charming mofo singing "Hey Soul Sister" for the bazillionth time.
-decided to spend 4 HOURS backing up my pictures and vids and mounting a (futile) attempt to sort out my fandom pic folders.

-look at the clock, see that it was nearly 1AM, curse and finally open Photoshop.

BUT! I have made good progress, and have thus rewarded myself with this post and the SWEET GIFT OF SLEEP. Tomorrow/later today, I will finally see HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS kjafjkah am so excited, ngl.

YES HARRY POTTER. HAVE FUN!

Okay okay GLEE. So, I haven't watched any Glee at all this season, because when it first started up again I was so busy that I had to decide which tv shows were absolutely essential to my life that I needed to give up time from homework to actually watch them annnnd... Glee was not one of those shows. And then nobody's really been saying much about this season, and my roommate's just been kind of "meh" about it, so now there are however many episodes and I haven't seen a single one, because now I'm at that point where it's like it would be actual work to get caught up on it.

Unfortunately this leaves me in a rather odd place so far as my impressions of Glee this season, because all I know is:

- they did a Rocky Horror episode (which was really just kind of strange and probably missed the entire point of Rocky Horror, or at least according to Hank Green)
- Kurt was kiss-accosted by some jock from the football team (WHO SADLY WAS NOT PUCK, APPARENTLY, grarr)
- DARREN CRISS (how is the fantastic nerdiness of AVPM somehow suddenly colliding with mainstream pop culture?)

So when I clicked on the video you linked to and saw Darren Criss actually singing and it was super cute I was just like, "...NYAURGH." Which is not a very explanatory reaction, but I love Darren Criss and I love Chris Colfer and Puck's grumpy face made me lol, even though I had no idea what its backstory was, and so I filled with (brace yourself) GLEE, and now I suddenly feel bad for not watching any of this season and that! That is the cause of my NYAURGH reaction.

And this is a really long comment, so I'm not really sure why I've babbled on this much about it, but-- that video was adorable, which is saying something, since I hate that song (mostly because it gets stuck in my head for HOURS). And now I feel guilty for not watching Glee. So my question to you, so that I can have another opinion besides my roommate's, is as follows: Should I be feeling guilty for not watching Glee? Has this season been secretly good and not full of terrible pacing issues and out-of-character actions? Should I perhaps try to get caught up with this season once winter break rolls around?

PART ONE because I cannot think at work

I still need to post about it (perhaps once the 30th is past and I have successfully defeated Yuletart kjdfkjfh), but OMG SO BRILL. I loved it, ahh!

AND LOLLLL dude I was mentally composing replies to this question the past few days and sorry2say that my completely honest answer would be that Glee S2 still is patchy AS HELL and I couldn't give it a full 100% WATCH EEEET recommendation. I personally haven't even seen all the episodes, to be quite honest and for me it has become the kind of show where you watch because you are invested in select characters and mentally filter out all the crap and tiresome things. The thing is, there HAVE been awesome moments this season (ALL THE BRITTANY STUFF homg, the increase of Mike Chang, Sam's constant shirtlessness, BLAINE AND KURT, generally most of the Kurt stuff that doesn't veer too far overboard in making him a saintly character full of grace and etc.) but also bits where you want to headdesk repeatedly.

(MOAR when I am home, because damn if I haven't been trying to work on this reply between calls. UGH WORK)

PART TWO AGES LATER because life ate me again

...so yeah, so much for the attempt at a timely reply... My failure, let me show you it.

Relevant to our conversation: The most recent Glee episode (the one where HSS is performed aka "Special Education") was actually one of the recent ones that I felt was really damn enjoyable. Only minimal amounts of fail or just plain strange moments! Dalton Academy totally stops being this super shiny utopia, which was an appreciated touch** and Blaine is just so fascinating to me. He seems so shiny and perfect and totally in control, I just want to see him all ~undone and I do like that he also has character flaws that are slowly becoming obvious (conflict avoidance! Tends to err on the side of conforming! Gives very "ripped from self-help books" advice!).

**I am amused by people describing it as being ~THE BORG~ but on the other hand-- they ARE an acapella choir and you have to consider the group sound!

OH AND ARTIE AND BRITTANY HAVE LEGIT CONVINCED ME TO KIND OF SHIP THEM. Brittany/Santana OTP fo' sure, but the writers really showed some adorable interaction between Artie and dearest Britt-britt. But speaking of Santana, her performance of "Valerie" was AMAZEBALLS. That voice plus the fucking fantastic lead dance performances by Brittany and Mike Chang? HOT DAMN. HOT DAMNNNNN INDEED. I heartily recommend the episode for that part alone, that is now one of my top 5 Glee performances. There was even a lovely bit in the end where Tina and Mercedes (!) sing "Dog Days Are Over". My mind would have truly been blown with a cover of COSMIC LOVE (BEST Florence + the Machine song everrr, imho!) Such a cute performance, that last one <333. Sam & Quinn are a cute BLONDE AS HELL couple to look at, but their rendition of "Time of our Lives" fell so flat to me... their voices are pleasant but not ~that strong and man, I just don't like that song too much.

OKAY ENOUGH GLEE BLATHER and lol this honestly took me nearly all day between calls. FFFFFFml ://

Okay, I watched the Valerie and the Dog Days videos and ARGH ARGH ARGH IT'S JUST SO CUTE AND FUN AND NOW I KIND OF FEEL LIKE I NEED TO WATCH IT, even though I will probably spend 88% percent of it in agony. Maybe I can force my musical theatre major friend to watch it with me (as she has not been watching s.2 either), and we can suffer together. Drinking game, perhaps? I mean, surely something must be out there that can make it bearable.

Also, is it weird that I am so in love with Puck? I mean, maybe he hasn't been as awesome this season, but I just see his face and I crack up like none other. I think it's something about how much he hates Glee... yet at the same time obviously adores it.

Well, thank you for all the advice (especially considering you had to sacrifice all your in-between-calls time to type it up!), and I will at least feel very prepared when the time comes to sit down in front of that computer screen and press play.

A Glee drinking game sounds like a GENIUS IDEA, I have got to say! Y'all better share whatever rules you come up with (memes like whenever Will becomes PEDO WILL!! come to mind for starters).

Mark Salling is just insanely charming as Puck and there ain't anything we can do to be resistant XD His often still sweet relationship with Rachel still occupies a fond spot in my heaaart. ALSO HIS THING ABOUT TRYING TO KEEP ALL HIS SONGS IN THE JEWISH SINGER CANON :DD

Hee, glad to have helped! I can already say that I am v. looking forward to the Xmas episode, just based on this Kurt/Blaine clip of them singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?hl=en-GB&v=LtZh9TO5mhk). I MEAN, WE ARE MISSING THE "YOUR LIPS LOOK DELICIOUSSS" PART, but I can deal as it's in the studio version lol.

Shall do - that is, if I can manage to convince her this would be a brilliant idea. (I have heard about pedo! Will. I am not happy with this situation.)

OH GOOD I am glad we are on the same page. Ooooooh Mark Salling.

OH MY GOD I JUST WATCHED THE KURT/BLAINE CLIP WITH GREAT TREPIDATION AND THEN MY BRAIN EXPLODED. Oh Glee. Why do you do this. I know that you will always disappoint me, but then you pull out these brilliant moments and... I just can't say no to you forever. MUCH AS IT MAY CONTORT MY SOUL WITH AGONY AS A RESULT.

Did you know he was Filipino-Irish? I only know that cos my husband informed me. Seems like all Filipinos just somehow know all their brethren. LOL

...I was wondering what that other half was!! And hee, the Filipino ties run strong, it's the same with my Filipino friends, too. EVERYONE SEEMS TO KNOW EVERYONE'S BUSINESS (EVEN MORE SO with half-Swiss, half-Filipinos-- two already very tight knit expat communities combiiiiine! XDD)

also this is just reminding me that I need a Darren/Blaine icon now, ahhh...
