kaiserkuchen: (LoM Sam! The grass is always greener)
Seeing as I am still too lazy to upload pics from my camera since uh, the last few weeks. Oh my.
Work sucked today, I was so unfocused and took ages to do four media reports (still not complete whoops) and had genius things happen like doing one I had already finished before but forgotten about. And then there were the random clippings that no one could account for and I had to hunt down. Ffffucking hell people, give me complete soft and hard copies to work with here :/

SO I WANT TO DWELL IN THE AWESOMENESS OF THE WEEKEND.

SATURDAY: Basterds, Greyhounds, Chillin' Like a Villain, Righteous Hanging out and Torrential Downpours (the last two not pictured lolol) )

SUNDAY: Shooting Things, Looking for P'Yai The Crocodile, MASSAAAAAGE, OM NOM NOM the Second )
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! Sometimes life just sucks (S))
I HAVE NO TIME FOR NOTHING AT THE MOMENT AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH INTERNSHIP AHHH

Who knew that screencapping, translating and transcribing FORTY DIFFERENT DETERGENT COMMERCIALS that are urgently due by tomorrow is not actually something one can accomplish in a day! Especially when other staff suddenly decide that NOW is the time to get the only intern left in the office to do their bidding. Where were you guys when I had time to read 5 episode recaps of True Blood on TWOP last week? Had to respectfully and nervously beg-off most of the extra work, and damn if that doesn't just serve to make me look bad if I don't immediately say yes to everything arghhhhh timing, you suck. I just hope I can get the other missing half completed by tomorrow at 6PM, then at least that is done with, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

ACTUAL FB AND LJ SOCIAL INTERACTION ON MY SIDE TO RESUME AS SOON AS THIS IS DONE

And in a parting note of faint grossness, apparently I was so tired when I took my nap on the car-ride home that I basically drooled on my own arm. That has never actually happened to me before! Internet, I have now shared my shame with you, and thusly I bid you all a good night <33

PS [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight! IMAGINE ME SITTING RAPTLY IN THE AUDIENCE TOMORROW FOR YOUR EPIC PLAY~~ Break a leg, dude!
PPS [livejournal.com profile] laulan, lol I actually had this discussion with my Dad about how one could technically make durian juice palatable and not gross, I think Dad was thinking about potentially mixing it with coconut water? Had the last of the durian as a dessert to a dinner of moaar blue swimmer crabs maaaaaaaaaaan do my hands smell weird now XD
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! SEXXXY TIMES)
First things first, another round of HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAAAAAAAY MY DARLINGS!!! to JENN AND KAT aka [livejournal.com profile] apple_scruffer and [livejournal.com profile] luscious_mangos aka MY TWO FAVORITEST FRUIT-RELATED LJ-NAME HAVING PEOPLE (WHO DON'T KNOW EACH OTHER BUT CLEARLY HAVE THE SAME B'DAY ON ACCOUNT OF BEING JUST THAT AWESOME) ON THE INTERWEBS. I eagerly await your wine-drenched posts already Jenn, and KAAAAT may you get healthy again soon by the time you read this! DON'T NEGLECT ME FOR CATCHING UP ON YOUR JE-FANDOM SQUEE, MISSY!

Today I overslept a bit for the Thai food festival that Carmen and I went to, but all's well that ends well and we got to have some delicious food, look at the stands and watch some random people get the Cliff Notes version of a Thai marriage ceremony. ...if it's their thing, I GUESS?? Olga, you should totally check it out for the food alone dude, it's on til the 9th! Their desserts are priced quite cheaply (5€ for a good serving), and clearly fresh and made-on-the-spot. Carmen had a simplified version of Khanom Chun/Chan, served with freshly grated coconut on top, which gives a slightly salty counter-taste to the sweetness of the dessert itself, and I had some delicious Foi Thong, om nom nom tasty golden eggy threads of delight! Suffice to say you can't really eat too much of these at once, as it is with most Asian desserts, but they were really good. The Ta-ko can also be recommended (tiny little squares of jelly and corn topped with coconut cream)! Here are some more pics of delish Thai desserts to make you guys hungry, and I gotta post a link of Khanom Luk Chup as well, AHH PRETTY TO LOOK AT AND NICE TO EAT.

AND LASTLY-- would you guys be interested in a voice post of me saying random things in Thai/German/English? We could all do one each or something, lol basically I think it'd be cool to hear each others voices... If yesss, any requests? Lol I need things to say otherwise I'll end up rambling about god knows what. SPOILER ALERT: Whatever I end up talking about, "ach"s, "uh"s and "...jaaa"s will end up featuring extensively. And I might end up saying LOL out loud. Because I am that person who uses internet acronyms in my daily life. Yes.

PS I STILL HAVE PRESSURE IN MY EARS WHAT THE FUCK AHHHHH *curses vestiges of sickness*
kaiserkuchen: (TezuAto! This is how it's done boy)
First, I am mugged by deadlines and stress. Then I spend the majority of Wednesday and Thursday feeling sore, sick and generally So Not Fine At All that it feels as if my brain decided to go on holiday and leave a warm and mushy sponge behind. And now I find out that DHL is fucking around with my Thai Visa form that Ma sent since last week (so they tell me they've been here twice, but where were my notifications? And why is the DHL office so damn far away? What should I travel to Simmering/Bleibtreustraße for?? :///) and new deadlines rear their head. Oh and I am apparently already in the double digits of my monthly €. FFFFFF WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS MONTH. June is supposed to be full of sun! Buying fresh fruit and eating berries all the time!

But talking about things that have been tiny sprinkles of awesome though-- I finally managed to upload my FB Roma roma roma album! Expect a condensed selection to hit LJ soon (along with the backlogged Germany pics and uh, damn I probably have quite the backlog eh??). Carmen and I watched My Bloody Valentine 3D and managed not to actually get sick from watching a 3D horror movie in our less than optimal health! MMMH BIG SCREEN JENSEN ACKLES. The movie itself was totally hilarious (there sure were a lot of chicks cackling madly throughout the film lolol Austro-SPN fen??), though I admit to closing my eyes at certain scenes. LIKE THE DRYER CORPSE, OLGA YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN RIGHT DDD: And for being my ~first ever~ 3D movie, it was pretty damn fun, even if I thought the blurriness at times was due to having to wear my 3D-glasses on top of my normal glasses, but uh, it's the ramifications of the technology at the moment, I guess? *SHRUGS*

Tomorrow we will be going to a Thai food/culture festival that is currently being held at the AAKH until the 9th! I totally would have missed it if my uni errands hadn't made me go past the Campus and hear the lilting sound of someone actually speaking in Thai over the speakers. THEY HAVE DELISH THAI DESSERTS ♥ And I shouldn't be spending money, especially since I'm going to be in Thailand in less than a month already (EEEEEEEEE!!), but still! I can eat toast for the next few days or something. Or use the credit card. Ummm *shifty eyes of low impulse control*

kaiserkuchen: (Snape! Is he gonna hafta smack you one?)
It seems like I am experiencing some form of post-travel downer-time, because what the fuck is wrong Sharon, GET OVER YOURSELF ughhh I am feeling oddly lethargic and overly emotional and vacillating between wanting to ignore what I have to do for uni and panicking about fucking it up AHHH I ONLY HAVE A MONTH LEFT OF THIS SEMESTER AUGHHH. Also I want to finally fucking know when the Prüfungseinsichttermin for Korre will be. I can't believe I fucking flunked communications law, I thought I had done enough for a pass, at least. Now I still have three exams left in PKW, greaaat. And then there are other BAKK2 related things, and after that there are just simple things like doing laundry and cleaning up, not even mentioning CALLING OR REPLYING TO PEOPLE that I have been trying to do more than halfheartedly since Monday. It's so stupid, I know that many people have actual serious problems and worries, and here I am still just moping about with my bullshit. Hopefully once I type this I can get on with my life?? TODAY CAN STILL BE SAVED. USED PRODUCTIVELY. Yeah.

I think I'll go check and see if TV-Dome has the pilot of Glee up, was looking through YT and coming up with bumpkiss that was watchable. CHEER ME UP PLEASE, HAPPY-LOOKING TV SHOW

SO YEAH, EXPECT NORMAL SHAZKAZ TO RETURN SOONISH, WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY DELAYS, HAVE A SMALL PICTURE OF SOME (blurry) GELATO AS A REFUND OF SORTS:
Photobucket

AND ALSO THIS COOL LINK that I got from [livejournal.com profile] gallo_de_pelea --The "I Can Read Movies" Set. Fantastically cool book covers!
kaiserkuchen: (Nadal! A taste for the crown)
Okay, if you were on FB you could see that this was true as of yesterday, but apparently I got so distracted on the ~interwebs~ that I forgot to post here. And now I have to run for my UE PR meetup to discuss something I have not prepared and doubt that any of the others did either. HO-HUM, what can you do! Will try to catch up on things fully when I'm back at the dorms!

ALSO, NOT!SURPRISING NEWS: ROME WAS FREAKING AWESOME ♥ ♥

The trainride to- and fro, not so much! But everything else, oh my gooooooooood. THE GELATO ALONE, seriously we ate Gelato twice a day everyday lolol AND STILL DIDN'T GET THROUGH ALL THE FLAVORS WE WANTED TO TRY.

My complete listing, to make you all ~*jealous*~:
- Honey + Cinnamon and Ginger @ San Crispino
- Fig + Blueberry + Pistachio @ Giolitti
- "Black Venus"(Rosewater+black rice) + Toasted Almond @ Fata Morgana
- Honey @ San Crispino
- Cinnamon + Fig + Black Cherry @ Giolitti
- Blackberry + Black Cherry + Pistachio @ Giolitti
- Raspberry and Sage @ Del Teatro
- Black Cherry + Straciatella + Peach @ Giolitti

...as you can see, I was pretty much in LOVE with the Black cherry flavor, amongst others. SUCH DELICIOUSNESS I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED BEFORE. And the honey at San Crispinos! But in total Giolitti's was pretty banging, they've been around since 1900 and apparently even Berlusconi stops by for some delicious Gelato from time to time. Carmen had flavors like Coffee, Sabayon, Green Apple, Pear, Frutti di Bosco and diverse rice-pudding ones.

.....aww crap gotta go now ugh PR :(
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! All the way down from heaven (C))
Query: What have I done this weekend, besides be online and go for a delicious fish dinner at Umar Fisch at the Naschmarkt with Carmen (an occasion to dress-up and leave the dorm, wooo lolol)?
Answer: NOT MUCH AT ALL.

Nevertheless, I am slowly working my way up to something at least, have finally set up my shiny new 500GB external hard drive (supposedly only for my ~entertainment purposes~ uhuhu), and promptly discovered that the same problem appears there that when I open my vids file WINDOWS EXPLORER FUCKING FREEZES AND CRASHES in like FIVE FUCKING SECONDS. The only way I can access it/delete stuff is through fiddling with the 'Open: File' function on VLC when I want to watch vids. AAAAUGH why does this happen and how can I fix it?? Ugh so irritating :// Doing some roundabout moving and then deleting of some TV series eps on C:// though, maybe this'll free up the old laptop? TIDUS DEAR DO NOT BE AFRAID.

Have some links to pretty awesome things (multifandom) again:
_"GLEE" extended promo ...This looks like a pretty fun show! And it uses "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, yesssssssssssssss. Quarterback dude and Glee Teacher dude also look adorable. I really hope my new streaming site BFF Tv-Dome has it next week!
_EPIC in-progress APH vid ...I keep forgetting to talk about it here, but I've been pretty much silently stalking about Hetalia fandom for a while now, mainly because of the fantastic output of great art (taking to admittedly cutesy original art to such awesome levels) and because reading the [livejournal.com profile] all_he_ever AU universe fic keeps blowing my mind in new and interesting ways. And this vid is just unbelievably well done, even in sketchy-ass form. THE ART. The way the characters are drawn! And the way the song totally crawls into your brain and makes itself at home there. FFF YEAH (does anybody have the mp3, by any chance??)
_JDM on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson ...two delightful men, being funny and saucy with each other (their voicessss)! JDM IS SO HOT, jeebus christ, this cannot be said enough. The bird story! THE BIT AT THE END! AHHH ♥
_The Venetian Carnival page of a gorgeous travel photo blog ...Carmen sent me this link and I am using it as ~SPN BB inspiration~. And seriously, check out the other galleries--THE ITALY PAGES AHHH
_Lykke Li- "I'm Good, I'm Gone (acoustic version)" ...oh my godddd, this version. Is gorgeous and kjakjafhkj ahhh LISTEN TO IT.
_NARNIA FIC THAT WILL EAT YOUR LIFE ...and you will love every minute of it. The world-building in all of this 'verse is exquisite and I love the author's versions of the scarily battle-tested and competent Pevensie siblings (Especially Peter. YOU BORDELINE CRAZYCAKE ♥) and the epic plots that are full of interesting little nuances and things like ACTUAL MILITARY STRATEGY and skjfdkja. I guess this is where I admit that I spent Saturday rereading my way through this archive?? Ahehehe ^^
_FUN FACT I DID NOT KNOW: Misha Collins has a Twitter account now! ...this still doesn't change the fact that my main opinion re:Twitter is still a resounding 'MEH. Not for me.', but I just love him when he posts stuff like "i see hundreds of posts and now i think, "this is stupid," how the fuck do i respond to 400 posts? It takes me 3 days to email my mother." OR "But I'm gonna have to take a hard line from here on out. Anyone (Bsides me) using badly grammar, abr. or mispelin' is gonna be perm. removed". AHHH MISHA WHY SO GREAT??
kaiserkuchen: (Dexter! DELICIOUS foodstuffs!)
This Saturday I met Wido with Carmen for yet another ice cream/gelato session (after the time spent with Dad and co. gorging on the stuff) and proved yet again that I am currently incapable of making sound decisions for eating ice cream. As was with the Tiramisu coupe that was the size of my head, I totally couldn't finish my chestnut parfait :((. WASTE OF FOOD, UGH SELF. We also looked around and found the Brit/Ami food shop "Bobby's", holy high prices batman! They were smack dab sold out of Ben&Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, but I still felt the urge to buy 6€ chocolate chip cookie dough Poptarts though whoops. AND I ATE ONE TODAY AND THEY TOTALLY SUCK ugh ugh my poor teeth :(
We then hung out at Wido's apartment for a bit, chatted some and got to know more about how adorably sappy and head over heels he is for Lena, even after three(!) years together. He is seriously the type of guy who tapes 'Welcome Home, Sweetie ♥!' messages on their door to welcome Lena back, dawwww! MAKES ONE STILL HAVE HOPE FOR DUDEKIND, especially if the only other guy I have lots of interaction with is Clemens lolol he of the current long-reigning streak of Douche-itude.

Walked a scenic tour of Vienna on our way back and stopped at the Meinl (considering we started at the Kettenbrückengasse area! So need to buy a Pedometer one day.) for Carmen's overpriced Weetabix and I proceeded to buy some overpriced butter for my toast and some overpriced carrot salad and tiny French Parmesan cheese-covered delicatessen mini salamis, as my usual brand is ironically sold more expensively than these special made ones (4€ INSTEAD OF 2.50€ FFF YOU MEINL). I needed my savory fix! Money well spent though, om nom nom carrot salad!

...Clearly I am due for a monthly visit, seeing how food-fixated my thoughts have been these last few days! UGHHH as long as it's not during ROMA ROMA ROMA!!

MAN AND I STILL HAVEN'T DONE JACK SHIT FOR UNI WHOOPS. NOR LAUNDRY. NOR MY OTHER CHORES. Well okay I defrosted some berries for this evening's GNTM session, lol guess what we're having again? FUCKING ICE CREAM *headdesk*

PS Seriously, awesome anon who gifted me with the free time, I repeat that I am your drawing bitch for this generous gift, tell me your wishessss :D
kaiserkuchen: (Reborn! Rabu rabu Tenth!)
♥ WHY ARE YOU GUYS ALL SO AWESOME, AHHH ♥. Seriously, thank you so much for all the lovely well-wishes and posts, ahhh I was basically going :D :D :D!! all day yesterday, ILU ALL SO MUCH!!

Yesterday can also be counted as one of the nicest birthdays I've had since uni started-- now this might sound cheesetastic, but it really is lovely to spend it with at least half of the parental units, too. We met for aforementioned Greek food at Orpheus at 7PM, they had spent the day in Bratislava and I was running around town on errands with Carmen. And holy crap, was Orpheus ever so delicious-- super swank and better than I'd expected, and eating out with Dad is generally great because he believes in full course meals and not giving a damn about the costs when it's a special occasion (also, Carmen got invited too woooo!). Because I love to blog about this and predictably had taken pics (that I have yet to upload, whoops some other time), my list of dishes: Scallops wrapped in speck on beds of mashed potatoes with balsamico glaze (entree), GIANT Veal chop served with sauteed green beans and artichoke (main) and a cinnamon parfait served with marinated strawberries (dessert). And to accompany that, a glass of Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon red wine. IT WAS ALL SO DELISH, and I loved getting to try a bit of everyone's dishes (Sue's Baklava was the bombbb).

Other things that were truly fantastic and happy-making on my birthday/list of schwag:
_Carmen's present: the "1000 Places To See Before You Die" book (!!), a giaaaant traveler's size mentos, color-coordinated bio chocolate and the cutesy animal stickers at Monsoon that I was always shamefully ogling
_Parental presents: Sue got me a matching set of turquoise earrings and a wristcuff, Dad is apparently giving me some mad cash in my bank account when I'm back in the summer (...seriously, he said the sum and I just about keeled over in shock :O I'M TECHNICALLY RICH, BITCH lol what) and Ma has promised that we'll go on some short trip in September (I'm pushing for somewhere in Chinaaaa)
_ALL THE MAIL I RECEIVED/WILL RECEIVE! [livejournal.com profile] laliandra and [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight, you ladies are ON NOTICE for really making my day with your beautiful packets, chock full of style and mood-lifting post ♥ Seriously Lalex, that Onitsuka Tigers poster is all kind of swank and C, I LOVE THE SPIDER THING. Well okay I actually hate spiders with a fiery passion in RL, but I can totally appreciate the coolness of such a fake artsy one :DD
_The birthday spam on Studivz/FB, ahhh I feel loved!
_Surprise telephone calls! Wido serenaded me with his ~touching~ rendition of Happy Birthday, my austro-relatives called, Ma did and [livejournal.com profile] hyourinmaru CALLED FROM THE US aksjfhajfkh that was seriously such a fantastic surprise, RIN YOU ARE WONDERFUL. Clemens was on thin ice the whole day for never showing a peep, but then calling at like 9PM, yammering some excuse about how he knew it was my birthday since yesterday but (insert excuse involving beer and sunning himself here) TSSS

AND NOW I AM OFF TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH DAD, SUE AND AE (THEIR LAST DAY AWWW), will reply to everything this evening!
kaiserkuchen: (LoM Sam! The grass is always greener)
Dad is back from Prague today! We met up at their hotel (The Holiday Inn in Margaretengürtel, surprisingly nice rooms for European standards), Dad gave me the two pairs of earrings he apparently bought for me there (!!!) and we waited for Robert to come pick us up for dinner at the Silberwirt, which is apparently part of a collective of wine bars/restaurants in what used to be an actual castle. Nice, solid and delicious Austrian fare-- had a enormous Styrian corn-fed chicken thigh with Krautsalat and a chocolate Palatschinken/Crepe that was filled with a chestnut-marzipan filling and slathered in forest berry sauce, accompanied with vanilla ice cream! OM NOM NOM. Prague was apparently a grand success on all accounts, and Dad apparently is convinced that he's gained about 10 kilos since he arrived in Austria. The food in Prague was uniformly delicious, and what we have planned for the following days until their flight this Friday evening is also going to be pretty hardcore for the waistline. BUT SO GOOD. To wit: Schnitzel at the famous Figlmüller again tomorrow, another sumptuous old-skool Viennese meal at the Plachutta and probably my birthday dinner at the Orpheus (I can even schlep Carmen along, woo!).

Keeping with the food related blathering of this entry, Carmen and I also intended to finally check out the Schwarze Kameel, one of the most famous and oldest delicatessen/cafes in Vienna. So we finally got there, took a quick view of the premise, sat down for about five minutes and promptly got up and left again. The place didn't look to be worth the 6€++ for even your most basic nibbles-- the waitstaff was clearly harried and everything was just kind of messy and eh. AH WELL. It totally counts as a 'done' on our "Places in Vienna we have to eat at" list :DD. I would still say that the actual delicatessen shop is worth paying a visit to though! We still ended up having us some decadent joy-- ICE CREAM AT THE DEMEL, blueberry and violet+mango sorbet ffffffff A GLORIOUS MEDLEY OF FLAVORS IN MY MOUTH ♥.

Oh and in preparation of ROMA ROMA ROMAAAA coming in a few weeks, we also went shoe shopping, being both firmly convinced that we NEED roman sandals for ultimate tourist GLEE. We were more than successful, and I even managed to find a pair of 'size 41's that for some crazy reason fit me. Thank you, shoemakers who feel the urge to lie to your consumers! Mine also ended up being an utter STEAL at 30 fucking Euros, and whilst I can apparently not find them on the online version of the shop, here is a similar, yet clearly not as awesome one that looks like mine. Another reason why my shoe was Perfect and Made for Me? It actually has a zipper/support thing at the heel, so I don't actually have to do each and every one of those fiddly roman sandle-buckles! Wonderfulllll~~ Shall start wearing them tomorrow, here's hoping I won't get too many blisters!

PS PR PRESENTATION IS OVER AND DONE WITH! I think we did well to okay. Snob!Boy was also one of his groups presenters and wow did his partner keep on blathering and blathering. I just wanted to listen to snob!boy talk! And look in my direction and kind of unnerve me with his INTENSE ICY-BLUE SNOB STARE unfffffffff why is this dick so damn good-looking??
kaiserkuchen: (LOL! Srsly dude I don't know)
STIEGL AMBULANZ, YOU ARE CURRENTLY ON NOTICE! What the hell is this, making us wait for our food for over half an hour when you weren't even at full capacity, having really cranky waitstaff snap at us when we politely(!) asked if the order was even taken, and then when it finally comes, the food is stone cold. I mean, my slow-braised pork shoulder on Bärlauch risotto was still delicious, but it would have been better uh, warm. And the cardboard they served Carmen that was supposedly their 2€ House bread lolol oh man. Meeting Hazel again was lovely though, and we really need to hammer out some time together for a day trip to one of the other Austrian cities near Vienna... Linz maybe? Since it's the ~cultural capital of Europe 2009~ after all.

And I meant to post this already earlier, but mediafire was being a dick--- MUSIC! Was trawling Aurgasm the other day, and wanted to share some of my favorites.

Warpaint- "Billie Holiday" ...GOOSEBUMPS GOOSEBUMPS GOOSEBUMPS, this song is just simply beautiful (the female vocals! So breathy and delicate) and worms its way into your ears and never lets go.
Fredrik- "Na Na Ni" ...I like how the melodies here are layered on top of each other, and how the singing just slowly starts feeling more and more urgent, yet is still with a sense of smoothness?
Matt&Kim- "Daylight" ...This I adore because of the unfailing beat, it just up and grabs you and is bursting with energy and happiness :D
-Amplive- "15 Stepz (ft. Codany Holiday)" ...Awesome, awesome R'n'B-esque cover of the already pretty damn fantastic Radiohead song!

UGH, now I better go off and do some work for my UE PR. I swear, just as I was about to count myself as happy with them anyways, the fun group vibe we do seem to have going, the same old crap rears its head. PRAY TELL, WHAT IS THE DIFFICULTY IS USING POWERPOINT/MAKING A PRESENTATION, ARE WE NOT ALL UNI STUDENTS CAPABLE OF THIS?? Especially given that all that has to be done is to just simply succinctly summarize our already finished report contents. I didn't want to do it because I will be presenting it anyways with Andreas, but fffff if you want to get something done right I guess :/// Though lol, I am also 'just' summarizing the info, Sven will be making the PPP. AH WELL WHATEVERR.
kaiserkuchen: (Pundits! Pondering serious thoughts etc)
As most of you already know through FB and what-not, I've been back in Vienna since late Sunday evening. Civilization, it is a pleasure to be nestled in your welcoming, internet-access enabled bosom yet again! Krimml as a whole was as always predictable and enjoyable if one knew where to get one's little happy moments, and I fully admit that this time was made even better with the presence of Dad and co., AND DAD'S BRILLIANT COOKING ♥ We had Tafelspitz with creme spinach and potatoes! Assorted asparagus concoctions! Irish Stew (LAMB!!), Jungkitz chops and LAMB CORDON BLEU THAT WAS FILLED WITH FRESH PECORINO CHEESE AND DRIED TOMATOES AND BLACK OLIVES INSTEAD of the usual way of doing Cordon Bleu (which is a dish I normally am v. bored of. Like with Meatloaf) ...nggggh that dish basically made me die in foodgasmic glory.

Now the academic monster that is uni and exams is continuing to rumble, and I am slowly but surely realizing that I have a truckload of things to Get Done, and Get Done Well. All UE-HÜ that I should really have known better than to procrastinate until now aside, I think the WIRK(Media Results/Influences basically) exam went well enough today-- fingers crossed for a pass or better!-- and I've already done some of the exam prep and reading of the KORRE (Communications Law) exam that is due on Friday, so. Cautious optimism is me!

And on a more serious note, I really must say that my love for [livejournal.com profile] rahmbamarama is all the more strengthened in face of the constantly classy and respectable way the mods and everyone handle things that come up, and the care that is put into ensuring that it remains a pleasant, tolerant and safe space for all the fans. Which makes it all the more appalling to me how idiotic and hurtful I was being too with my ignorant actions and I'd just like to also apologize here as well for the sheer levels of lose I must have been radiating. I swear, I am normally not such a tool! "I had never really thought about it being seen that way," is such a weak and lame excuse, but it what I thought at first-- but really reading through the posts and comments linked to in the latest Modpost only served to bring home the message again and again, how privileged and wholly inappropriate and wrong I was and how lazy (to say the least!) it was to even think of using that as an excuse in the first place. This was a hell of a wake-up call to my previous belief that even if I consider myself multicultural/of mixed cultural heritage, my specific experiences are in no way wide-ranging and there are a lot of areas that I am shamefully under-aware of and under-educated in, and that is something that needs to change. Clearly I have a hell of a lot to still learn and work on, and I hope you guys will not hesitate to smack me hard if I fuck up again.
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! Now get on those knees and pray (D))
I really should have my packing done right now, but WHOOPS *shrugs*. Still psyched about getting to visit my dearest darling ~*Carmen*~'s home base of NORDDEUTSCHLAAAAND for a week! Oldenburg! Hamburg! Hannover! WOOO ♥ We're even gonna constantly be having internet access, though I guess my participation in our FB and all other SPAM SESSIONS will go down drastically lololol. And then I'll be back in Vienna for a few days, before DAD, SUE AND AE are here!! and it's off to Krimml to celebrate my Opa's 80th birthday... During which I will supposedly have to finish nearly all of my uni work and will need constant internet. Oh that is not gonna be fun to have to wrangle from Silvia again, pre-emptive waaargh!

Our YAY!BAKK1 1-er dinner ended up not being delicious Lamb 'n more at the Stiegl Ambulanz because of a damn geschlossene Gesellschaft (FFFFF), but we decided to go for a real detour and dine at DOTS- Experimental Sushi at the Mariahilf instead. Preeetty damn expensive (we basically ended up paying 20€ per person-- they have 5€ Gedeckkosten!! WTF), but a really swank place and quite okay food. Though in my opinion their sushi rice was soggy, too sweet and the nori on my salmon maki wasn't crisp. I liked how they decorate their ~famous~ experimental sushi though, Carmen had some cute 'Geisha Lips' (Tuna+flying fish roe on top of a roll with avocado, surimi and something else) and my 'Goldfish nigiri' were little prawn nigiri sushi with an extra wedge of avocado shoved in and little googly eyes made from ....something. I can't remember. Still: adorable! And then we had some gelato on the walk down the Mariahilf-- blueberry, walnut and chestnut for meeee ♥

IN CONCLUSION, some links and additional awesome for you guys:
A PRETTY DARN FANTASTIC PICSPAM OF THE J2 PANEL AT THAT RECENT SPN CON <33
PART TWO ...one thing I gotta say re: SPN fandom is that I am hearing things from the pathetic batshit side about A)the massive and irrational Danneel hate that is existing amongst some people (some idiot apparently tried to get her 'thrown out of the con because that was negatively affecting her Jensen-squee' WTF WTF) and B)some deluded fangirl thinking it's a GOOD IDEA?? to give Misha a collection of slash fic??. Jesus christ SPN fandom, this is why you can't have NICE THINGS :||

MY LITTLE PONY MODS! ...remember to scroll past the first admittedly INSANELY ALARMING first one, the rest are pretty darn awesome :DDb

PS IS THIS PIC PRECIOUS, OR THE MOST PRECIOUS PIC EVER?? GOD, HOW CAN THEY BE SO ADORABLE UGH :DDD
Photobucket
kaiserkuchen: (Reborn! Urge to kill rising :|)
I LEFT MY DORM ROOM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN uh *counts* ...THREE DAYS! Man, did Sven and Carmen ever give me a weird look when I mentioned that. I mean, I had food! Water! The internet! What more does one need? Also I totally saved money that way. Though I guess it was kind of sad and vaguely disturbing how I would actively strain to hear for signs of Sabrina-activity to die down and mean that I could leave my room for the bathroom/kitchen. I JUST DIDN'T WANT TO ACTUALLY SEE HER AT ALL COSTS OKAY. I did realize the folly of hoping she would actually just leave yesterday though, since it was then 8PM and I was kind of hungry since 2PM already (and had kind of run out of satisfying snack food). Ah well! She seems to be gone since this morning though... FINGERS CROSSED THAT THIS LASTS FOR A FEW DAYS, AHH.

But yes, where was I before drifting off in that tangent that might have revealed some of my neurotic tics-- FOOD! Sven, Carmen and I had some Thai food at the Thai Lotus, also in our 20. district, and apparently as per lokaltipp.at one of the best Thai restaurants in Vienna? I had Somtam and Yam Woonsen Talae, which was pretty good if a little bit bland-- and I got to talk to the staff in Thai, so I was pretty happy. The Thai food I always have a craving for just mostly never is the stuff they serve here, I am normally not so much a fan of the Pad Thai or all the curries, so it was great to finally get to om nom nom on tasty papaya salad and glass noodles ♥. Will probably be heading there again when the weather gets more sunnier, especially since it is right near the Augarten for some awesome post-fooding walks.

AND NOW I should probably do a smidge of research for my PR-Übung that I will probably end up doing myself, as the group I am with has proven themselves to be a bunch of non-communicative incompetent asswipes. WHAT IS SO HARD WITH USING EMAILS TO DISCUSS THINGS. How hard is it to collectively come up with a PR Agency name that is not some bullshit like 'Forgive Us' or 'Miscommunication'?? I understand the sentiment to make things fun, but calling it names like that just smacks of self-fulfilling prophecies, especially since we are all collectively too incapable of staying in touch. And the agency name isn't even the only thing we are supposed to do-- so much for getting collective input on our hypothetical budget for the image improvement campaign we are supposed to do for the Viennese 10th district, or how we should precisely formulate our mission statement. AND WE KNEW ALL OF THIS SINCE TUESDAY. Heck, I thought I could send them an email early Thursday afternoon, and we'd have something by Saturday evening at least, but no. GOD, I HATE LONG TERM GROUP ASSIGNMENTS WITH PEOPLE YOU ALREADY DON'T KNOW (because then you at least know who you can yell at to get their asses on with it.) I am so going to get the rep as the goody-two-shoes of the group, but goooooood I was just so tempted to type a font-size 40 missive at them that would just blink over and over again "WHY DO YOU ALL SUCK SO MUCH??".

kaiserkuchen: (SPN! The best kind of entertainment)
It's Carmen's 23rd birthday today! We went for a walk at Schönbrunn palace (with Sven), chilled a bit at Sbucks and have now returned for some quality vegging out and DVD's. Shall be showing her Big Bang Theory and probably Zach and Miri make a Porno and uh, Slumdog Millionaire. One of these things is not like the other, etc etc :DD. We actually went out yesterday for a bit, celebrated Wido's 23rd birthday (lol one day before Carmen). Had some Indian food that basically everybody besides me liked-- am just not a fan, le sigh-- but Wido was pretty stoked by our admittedly very awesome gift. Carmen, Clemens and I pooled our cash to get him and Lena some ~*edible chocolate body paint*~ that we found in this chocolate delicatessen shop. It was 34€ and looks really classy (marc du champagne, raspberry and pistachio flavors in these little test tubes), so it better be good XDD.

And in the spirit of giving, here be the music recs that I promised people (ahem ahem [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight and [livejournal.com profile] hemlocke ahem ahem) a bazillion years ago. I AM SO BEHIND ON ACTUALLY FULFILLING MY VARIOUS PROMISES everybody I apologize in advance and for all eternity >_>;;

BEST OF THAI:
Here's the thing about my taste in Thai music, or rather music in general. I tend to fixate on the output of certain bands that are basically my musical forever girls, so some of these ~might~ just be familiar to some of you who have known me for a while. BEAR WITH IT :DD

Tattoo Color - "Gohok(Lies)" ...My newest not exactly new find! Their music is just insanely peppy, they have cute MVs and I just love this song.
Tatto Color - "Cinderella" ...SERIOUSLY this song is so darling, the Cinderella of this song is a chick who is swift like a ninja! Who drives the main dude to sobbing into his pillow at night! And the melody is just insanely addictive~~
AB Normal - "Faen Chan (My Girl)" ...Theme song from the movie of the same name, that contrary to my shallow movie poster-based expectations turned out to be this bittersweet ode to nostalgia and childhood days. I TOTALLY CRIED AT THE END OKAY ;( And I just love how the lead singer's voice lilts in the verse part of this song.
Moderndog - "Gorn (Before)" ...Here the barrage of Moderndog music starts. I wish I could have found my copy of 'Ta Sawang' boo. BUT I LOVE THEM SO MUCH SO MUCH SO MUCH. And this is my all time favorite Thai ballad ever.
Moderndog - "Gorn (Acoustic Version)" ...OKAY I LIED, THIS VERSION IS. BAWLING NOW KAY.
Moderndog - "Busaba" ...their first big rocking single that came out in the early nineties and basically heralded the age of MODERNDOG ♥ One of the first songs I actually remember hearing in Thai, too (that wasn't by P'Bird lolol)
Moderndog - "Bang Singh (Something)" ...the beginning bits of this song never fail to give me shivers of GLEE. And how the lead singer's voice is pitched so low.
Moderndog - "Isarn Special" ...one of their more stranger offerings, but I really grew fond of this one. The way the melody slowly builds and the song gains momentum, ahh ♥ Perfect for when you're on a car trip and the scenery just flashes by.
Silly Fools - "Khi Hueng (Jealousy)" ...another one of my all-time favorite songs and bands, and I admit that ever since I found out that P'Toe left as a front man, I now refuse to listen to their new stuff. I LOVE P'TOE OKAY DD: This song also has the best kind of chorus to yell along too ♥
Silly Fools - "Pleng Nii, Kiao Gab Kwam Rak (This Song is about Love)" ...EPIC EPIC EPIC ♥ Words fail to describe how much I adore this song.
Silly Fools - "Sing Thi Mai Keu Bork (Unspoken Things)" ...another lovely and hella depressing ballad. Khan said once listening to this after a break-up almost made him cry lolol.

THAT KOREAN GIRLGROUP SENSATION:
AKA The Wonder Girls~~. I TRIED TO RESIST. I OBVIOUSLY FAILED. Here be the different versions of their hit single "Nobody" I have. Sadly I somehow wasn't able to get the Disco Version uploaded, grrr.

Wonder Girls - "Nobody" ...just try and not have the chorus echo in your inner mind for all eternity. HELLA CATCHY O YAS.
Wonder Girls - "Nobody (Rainstone Remix)" ...slower and now with moar acoustic guitar! Also kind of pretty.
Wonder Girls - "Nobody (Ballad Version)" ...I was so disappointed when this turned out to only be 36 seconds. But it is a pretty 36 secs, so here it is nonetheless (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] hemlocke! MY EARS DECEIVED ME)
Wonder Girls - "So Hot" ...their OTHER insanely catchy single!

SO BASICALLY, enjoooy! And tell me if there is something wrong with the Mediafire links. Also, if anyone wants any lyrics translations/approximations of the Thai songs, feel free to hit me up :DDb

UGH MY HEAD

Feb. 9th, 2009 01:07 am
kaiserkuchen: (LOL! The bitter truth)
I can probably thank my own shoddy work ethic and my subsequently fucked up sleep patterns that this February will not hold much rest and relaxation for me :| Also, I am apparently now addicted to naps, especially at 2PM and cannot function like a normal human being without them. I tried, oh did I ever try today, only to succumb to sleep's loving embrace at 5PM. IT'S LIKE I AM RELIVING MY CHILDHOOD.

We are now ensconced in our second set of digs, after a night spent at my aunt's, we are now chillaxing it up in this serviced apartment complex downtown, which is also pretty fine. Much more roomier than the hotel! The highlight of my day had to be the SUPERMARKET VISIT OF BRILLIANCE at Central Chidlom today though, GOD MY HEART. It is probably a sign of how, I dunno, intensely food fixated I am, but there are few things in life that can make me happier than wandering around a fully-stocked, well designed supermarket. OH THE THINGS YOU CAN BUY NOW. All this imported crap, it's fantastic-- it seems like we have basically the entire stock of the UK's Waitrose and M&S products, all these Japanese foodstuffs, more US/European candy than you can shake a stick at aaaaaaaaaaand FRUIT, GLORIOUS GLORIOUS FRUIT! From Japan, from Korea, and of course our own local beauties. Oh how I can't wait to have some Durian again when I'm at Dad's place OM NOM NOM ♥. ALSO thanks to the ice cream meme over at [livejournal.com profile] rahmbamarama I've bought some Ben&Jerry's and it is faaaaaaaaab~~ "Half-Baked", though I still like the Chocolate chip cookie dough one the most, but I figured new things should be tried choc ice cream is kinda blah though :/

...okay wow this post has no real value. The next posts will also probably feature me bitching about my looming deadline. FUCK 20ISH PAGES IN FIVE MORE DAAAAAAAAYS *headdesk*. HAVE THIS GIF TO MAKE UP FOR IT, GOD I LOVE THAT DOG'S FAAAAAAAAAAAAACE

I survived BILDUNGSPSYCH II! I sure as hell hope I am not jinxing myself when I say that I am at least sure I got a 4, and am crossing my fingers for a 3. JUST PASS ME PLZ. It is amazing how much one can actually miss a good ol' short answers handwritten test with NO MINUS POINTS FOR WRONG ANSWERS, thank you dicktastic multiple choice MO of 80% of PKW stuff! I knew a few things cold, wibbled on some other ones and just plain made shit up for the rest I blanked on. HERE'S HOPING FOR VICTORYYYY. And now I only have 3 1/2 more looming deadlines to go, all but one of which are due this coming friday! YAY??

Carmen and mine's traditional 'Let's get dressed up a bit and go eat at nice restaurants' thing was another resounding success ♥ We went to the Limes and it was a shining beacon of classy yet understated decor, seriously attentive staff and STUPENDOUSLY DELICIOUS FOOD. I had the Gnocchi with Mushrooms and Herb Sauce and biting into each gnocchi was like tasting a slightly chewy, yet springy pillow of potato-ey fluffy goodness. IT WAS DIVINE, FOR REALS. Also their portions were more generous than one would expect, Carmen especially got her money's worth (all 16€ of it lol) with her order of Nero Risotto with Grilled Prawns. My dessert of Pumpkin Flan with a Honey-Cinnamon Sauce was also deeeelish~ ♥ Seriously a place to rec to the parental units if they ever make it here.
OH AND SPEAKING OF FOOD: SCULPTURES MADE OUT OF GUMMI BEARS!! ...how awesome is this, come on!

LASTLY SPN 4x12: HERE BE SPOILERLY RAMBLAGE )
kaiserkuchen: (Pundits! Best duo everrr)
I will probably have a headache tomorrow, boo! Damn my grown even weaker alc tolerance. Two fucking cocktails (Mango Daiquiri and a Banana Colada) and I was completely red and had a pulse rate of OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAND. At least walking back to the U-bahn in the cold with Carmen was refreshing! But what fun and vaguely versaut convos were had at the Chillout Lounge, that okaaay partly were due to the cocktail's influence XDD. Hanging with Carmen really always is tremendous fun, one would think that we would eventually reach a point where we get sick of each other, but nope! Still awesomesauce all round ♥ILU MY UNI BFF♥

But today was a resounding failure uni-wise again, what with the houuuuuurs I spent at brunch at Michelle and Eli's, though I was heartily rewarded with homemade CREPES. With Grand Marnier mixed in the batter. SO DELICIOUS and I even got a few to take home, OM NOM NOM. Must wake up at 9AM tomorrow and get my shit together *sighhhh*.

And now you may all have a jarring segue to FANNISH HAPPY MAKING THINGS:
♥ MY 'I AM AMERICA (AND SO CAN YOU!) AUDIO CD HAS ARRIVED AND IS WAITING FOR ME IN THALIA. NEXT SATURDAY BB, YOU SHALL BE ~MINE~

THIS GORGEOUS TAMAKI PIC that [livejournal.com profile] xinester drew for me. LOOK AT HIS FAAAAAACE :DD

THIS SPN VID. There is no streaming link, but believe me when I say it is totally worth the download. The relationship between Dean and Mary Winchester, the parallels of their story and just basically a really tightly and well-edited piece of work that punches you in the gut. MY FEELINGS WHILE VIEWING THIS VID IN EMOTICONS: DDDD: AWW MAN DDD:

ALSO because I personally have been crazy obsessed about the song ever since my first viewing of the vid-- Sage Francis- "Sea Lion". LISTEN TO IT IT IS SO GRRRREAT *_*
kaiserkuchen: (Ishida! Doki-doki)
THIS WEEKEND: insanely awesome and productive socially, and all the more a resounding failure on the get-shit-done-for-uni-FUUUUCK side! Saturday evening was spent being wined and dined chez Miss Olga, with the evening's entertainment being moaaar Skins (EVERYONE'S SUCH A DIIIIIIIICK GOD :DD) watching and my continued indoctrination of her into the cult of Punditry (Jon Stewart's '96 HBO Special, o how I have watched you about 7 times already and still you remain awesome). I am still thinking about that Himbeersahneschnitte though, dude that was so tasty.

Now this Sunday I spent with previously mentioned Scruffy St. Pölten Dude (Marc). We ended up meeting at one-ish at the Westbahnhof, and proceeded to spend the next six hours chatting up a storm and hitting up multiple Sbucks and McD's for warmth and coffee/hot chocolate breaks, a late lunch at the Vapiano and more coffee at the Kurkonditorei Oberlaa. Our circuit was basically the entire Mariahilfer, then we walked from there to the Innenstadt past the Hofburg until we hit the Kärtnerstraße. Best walk of normally quite large distance, ever! Hot damn was it ever so much fun, we apparently do have a lot in common, yet enough differences to make friendly debates happen and it was just a blast. Though I did figure him for around my age, apparently he's 24 already (babyfaaaaaaace) and readily admits himself that he is a bit immature. Which uh okay, you could notice, but it was still in the acceptable adorable-jackass way that I am apparently susceptible to. I blame constant exposure to the dudes in my RIS Swiss Sec days lolol.

It was the oddest thing though, because I am still not sure if today was a date or not, because if you discount the fact that he paid for everything(!!) and kept asking if I was sure I didn't want anything else to eat/drink, I felt like I had just spent a very awesome day hanging out with Migel. He tried to go for the handshake when we parted ways, but I hugged him instead because lol, A HANDSHAKE?? Don't know if I'll have much time this January to really see him often though, but I've already wrangled a promise from him to show me around if I ever come down to St.Pölten. And I actually would like to, to be quite honest :)
ALSO HE IS (A BIT) TALLER THAN ME AND HAS CUTE HAIR SO THAT CRITERIA IS SOUNDLY REACHED :DD
kaiserkuchen: (SPN! The best kind of entertainment)
I should actually be channeling all this typing for uni, but AH WELL :DD
