kaiserkuchen: (STrek (C)! Give us a smile bb)
Though most people try to at least offer better quality pics lolll you guys, I THINK THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING OFF WITH MY BLACKBERRY PICTURE TAKING SKILLS. So uh, preemptive apologies for the graininess.

But before I continue, here have a picture that is at least somewhat okay-- the fantastic dessert spread that Dad brought for dinner yesterday from the Oriental bakery. Clockwise, starting from noon: Vanilla Bourbon (+white choc mousse & cake bottom), blueberry cheesecake, lemon tart, The Wave (giant macaroon with lychee cream and a raspberry center) and I forgot the name of the last one, but it had white chocolate and layers of cream, blackberry and raspberry.

And now, barring whatever I will probably still buy tomorrow (I HAVE 6 MORE KILOS OF WEIGHT FOR MY LUGGAGE, but no room lololol tragedy!), MY SHOPPING HAUL SO FAR:
Dresses like woah + bling )

APROPOS OF NOTHING, I have chewed enough gum the past few hours that my jaw hurts like the dickens. You all needed to know that, I'm sure.
kaiserkuchen: (TVD! Damon is Not Impressed)
...I continue to have a tenuous grasp on time management and juggling my responsibilities. Though in my defense I was quite sick from the time of my last posting- that week was basically a wash. Monday sick leave, Tuesday work where started to kind of already feel shitty then, but I dragged myself to work on Wednesday because I was stubborn and wanted to finish a translation. Ended up leaving after less than three hours and spent the rest of the day rolling around my apartment and feeling sorry for myself. Ma did drop by to give me home-made (!) chicken soup and lime + honey to make soothing juice, though. Thursday I called in sick again and went to the hospital for a check-up to find out what was up with my body trying to make life hell for me-- since apparently coughing like it was going out of style and having a fucked voice wasn't bad enough (not like I actually need to use my voice for my job or anything), well! My body decided early that week that it wasn't going to accept most of what I tried to introduce as food to it. In retrospect, probably about 85% of my feeling like crap at work, especially as I was back on Friday again, was due to MY INTENSE FEELINGS OF HUNGER. The end diagnosis ended up being ~acute bronchitis with a side helping of gastro-intestinal fuckery~. But I did finally get around to finding out my blood-group after 22 years of life: I AM A+! Something which was somehow intensely amusing to me. BRB looking at those blood-group personality test thingies now.

I was really nervous about this sickness not being over and done with before my BKK trip that was from last Friday until this Tuesday (especially the food thing, because damn if that would've screwed everything beautiful about BKK time!), but PRAISE THE DEITIES it was all okay. I still maintain the fact that our office is a giant teeming petri-dish for bacteria and this company is absolutely horrible if you want to leave work early if you feel like shit or are actualfax sick. SO MUCH HASSLE INVOLVED, IT IS NO WONDER I WASN'T SICK BEFORE. This was actually my first legit sickness in about 3 years, iirc.

I still feel the vestiges of a cough lurking in my throat right now-- it has reached that insanely irritating stage where you feel like you constantly need to clear your throat every 20 seconds, and you just know that every one around you is secretly hating you because you sound disgusting and you feel disgusting and ughhhhhh.

ALSO THERE ARE ANTS IN MY ROOM AGAIN. WHAT ARE THEY DOING THERE FML AND FUCK THIS STUPID APARTMENT.

Moaaar posts to come (BKK recap! TEH DRAMAZ AT WORK! etc!), I just had to at least get this off my chest lol.

And because I would do anything for dearest Carmen, it would be awesome if you all could just click this link and vote for bifi!
kaiserkuchen: (ETC! OH SNAP SNAP SNAP)
I can has a sad that these precious days of being slob are again numbered. I had all these plans of Facial! Massage! Go to the gym to make up for missing Friday (DAMMIT but my PT wasn't there anyways and I am so lax on my own, ahh I BLAME THE SURPRISE EARLY SHIFT CHANGE)! What did I end up doing? Spending way too much time online of course, though I got some delightful phone calls with RL friends here and skyping with Carmen and others in. Carmen is now basically the one of us living up the 20-something life. She goes out occasionally! There are Hot Dudes of Interest vying for her affection! And I am basically on the edge of my seat going TELL ME MOAAAAR as we skype XDD. I am just so super pleased for her, and it is high time that dudes finally recognize the hot slice of fabulous my dear BFF is ♥

Did get some quality mother-daughter time with Ma too, delish Dimsum lunch at the Dhara Dhevi (CASTLE IN THE SKYYYY) Oriental, followed by raiding their cake shop for sweet noms. I had cherry sherbet, bought some berry cake, a chocolate scone and a mini box of macaroons (olive! pistachio! banana passion!), as well as an intriguing Tom Kha Gai(!!!) praline.

But to fill this entry with more than just RL yammering, here are
Things on the Internet That Have Made Me Happy:
"Alex Wong from Ballet to Hip-hop" ...SYTYCD is by far one of my favorite reality shows and it almost makes me want to take dance lessons, but I still always feel to uncoordinated and am still at the phase where I dislike looking at my sweaty, red-faced self in mirrors. ALEX IS THE BEST THOUGH, oh my god I love male ballet dancers so fucking much. And that hip-hop routine in the end! BRILLIANT and those bits where he was doing the ballet moves in that street gear? *swoooooons*
Alex Wong and Billy Bell on SYTYCD ...seriously, Alex Wong would've won this fucking season, aughhh it still is so horrible that he got injured. And he just looks smoking hot here, guh. More bonus points for that particular version of "This Bitter Earth/On the Nature of Daylight" unfff that song. SHIVERING RN.
"Kombat Dancers gone haywire" ...seriously, I MEAN LOOK AT THIS DUDE. The fact that they're dancing this in such full regalia penguin suits makes everything even more extra special XDD
EVERY SINGLE THING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE NEW OLD SPICE ADS ...SO GENIUS, THE END. The way Isiah Mustafa says HELLO LADIES (and well, everything tbqh) will never stop to crack me up <333333333. And [livejournal.com profile] ladypolitik made genius icons and animated gifs HERE!
Touhou Vid set to "Bad Apple" ...b&w and trippy as all get out. SO HYPNOTIC and just amazingly well made. It helps that I am also mildly obsessed with the song, but I know barely diddlysquat about Touhou and have already rewatched this a few times, ahh.
STAR TREK + GODGA FANART ...why didn't I realize that bits of the Alejandro are basically VULCAN PON-FARR as well sjakfhjafs ahahaha oh man I will never look at those bowl-cuts the same way again. Spock looks adorable, to boot ♥

And last but certainly not least,
25 Lives [livejournal.com profile] tongari's submission to SSBB defies description in how gorgeous, moving and brilliant it is. I have had this open in a tab for AGES, and I still don't get sick of coming back and just staring at it again and again. The second panel is one of my favorites, though all the scenarios are just. AHHH ♥ Highly recommended!
kaiserkuchen: (TVD! Damon is Not Impressed)
This would've been a super cranky entry full of whining and general feelings of ~unease BUT I got to skype/call my parents earlier and perhaps most importantly talk to ♥CARMEN♥ after nearly a week and a half so now I am actually in a good mood again. It was great catching up and our moods continue to magically synchronize. We are apparently both in the throes of this weird wishy-washy and niggling feeling you get when you're not exactly "content" or happy with the general direction your life is taking, and not quite sure what to do about it. Well okay, in my case I am just in front of a large and blinking question mark and I am mostly psyching myself out with thinking up negative scenarios and also experiencing the usual YAY LET'S SEE PEOPLE and NO IMMA BE A SHUT-IN simultaneous social activity dichotomy that I sometimes go through. And I kind of am balking at the amount of packing I still have to do in these two weeks. TL;DR CONCLUSION: TIME TO SACK THE FUCK UP, SELF *rinse, repeat*
[EDIT] hah I got over myself and am meeting Daniela, then Wido on Monday and [livejournal.com profile] nebst(♥!) for the first time on Tuesday. YAYYYYY <33

BUT TO GET BACK TO MORE FANDOM-Y things, have caught up with SPN and TVD! Ahhh, and both episodes that make me ever so antsy for it to be next week already~

SPN:
"They're Calling My Name" by [livejournal.com profile] secretlytodream is short but packs an epically creepy punch. The way the already quite unsettling song fits together with the editing and the coloring choices and ahhh fuck THAT ENDING. THIS VID AHHHHHH.

Supernatural S5x16
HEAVEEEEEEEN IS A PLACE ON EAAAAAAAAAAARTH )
Supernatural S5x17
I have had an earworm from this song the whole day already )

TVD:
The Vampire Diaries S1x17
Gosh this show is so addicting )

STAR TREK:
One of my greatest cliche loves is the genderswap trope, and to a large extent because I admit that I am fascinated by the thoughts behind visually adapting a current character's look/design and what their clothing/hair/body would translate to in the opposite sex. Obviously I expect that there should also be a bit more thought put into it if say, one were to write a genderswap fic, because man I think everyone has read one of these really simplistic and veering into insensitive and insulting depictions of "girliness"/"manliness"-- but just purely speaking on a shallow and pictorial level? THIS and HIGHSCHOOL/UNI!AUs are like my favorite things ever <33

Which is basically a long intro into the fact that [livejournal.com profile] oxboxer has made some brilliant ST genderswaps that are full of personality, with the added bonus of being ~fashionable ones that use actual clothes assembled together from Polyvore as a reference. SO GREATTTTT AHHH I LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE.
The DUDES (Girl!Spock is perfection and I want her outfit, and okay that is a statement that can be taken as a blanket one... though perhaps not Kirk's. Even if it is SUCH AN INSPIRED CHOICE ahhhhh ♥) and the LADIES (DAAAMN Male!Uhura is hot~ and the reference for GUYLA is hilari-awesome)

White Collar S1x10
This show is intensely HAPPY-MAKING AHHHH )

Oh and I went over to Carmen's for some quality trashy German TV-watching (MODEL WG FUCK YEAHHHH). We planned to try and make a banana walnut cake using my rice cooker as it was described in the little recipe book that came with it. BUT FOR SOME REASON it turned out to be mostly just uncooked banana walnut goo, with only around 1/5th of the cake being actually solid. Which I, being in possession of a stronger stomach than Carmen, of course ate as well as some of the goo before the sheer amount of butter separating itself started to gross me out. It was delicious, but man if only it were done. We wasted half a kilo of banana and nearly 200g of quality walnuts on that! My stomach still feels fine, though I feel like I am hallucinating the feeling of being surrounded by a cloud of buttery smells.
kaiserkuchen: (Dexter! Angels & Demons)
Started to do so since yesterday, and managed to suddenly wind up in front of the computer at 3AM again. DAMMIT, SELF!! Simon Amstell is probably my favorite host though, he is so hilarious and snarky ♥ Cracked up so much at the episode with Kelly Rowland who kept looking at turns vaguely confused and disturbed by the shenanigans going on XDD.

Because thinking up smooth transitions from paragraph to paragraph is too much of a fucking hassle atm, a random list of things I have been up to:

- Watched Gamer with Carmen on Friday, starring Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall amongst others and it was quite possibly one of the most stupid and insulting movies I have ever seen in a good long while. I mean, though the topic is interesting and merits discussion, I had no real expectations of ~depth~ from a movie that is basically about REAL VIDEO GAMES!!1 in the future and nanobots and death-row prisoners fighting to win the game and gain freedom but OH WAIT they are controlled by players!1 and the head of the game tech developing company is EVIL!1, but the cliches the movie traded in were extensive and dated, the way women and people who weren't fit white men were treated was disgusting and demeaning and quite frankly, the action wasn't all that great. It was quite clear that the makers specifically tailored everything in the movie to their core audience of 16-twentysomething year old dudes, and it was evident in things like the titsapalooza in every possible scene, the groupies who vidchat the Gerard Butler Character's gamer calling themselves Cumdumpstaaz (....seriously), fake!lesbians galore and various demeaning things happening to GBC's wife during her "job" as some virtual reality meatpuppet.
The only good thing about the movie was basically Michael C. Hall's unrepentantly hammy yet entertaining performance as the villain (with a southern accent, even >_>;), and I just basically kept imagining him in character as Dexter for the lulz, I do admit it. This scene in particular was perfection. His creepy dancing and lip-synching!

- Finally got around to cleaning up my yahoo!mail account, which was heading towards the big 10'000 of emails, so I uh, spent the afternoon trying and eventually succeeding in deleting 6'000 emails. Phew! All those FB and LJ notifications from ahem, 2006 and 2007, GOODBYE!

- Had delicious delights with Hazel and Carmen today at the Pure Living Bakery. Exceedingly charming place and lovely, home-made pastries. I had a "monster cinnamon roll" that was baked with apple slices in it, om nom nom ♥. Also discovered that Hazel has a crazy, crazy schedule and Carmen and I are basically hobos who complain about actually having to leave the house every now and again in comparison, lol.

- For the last few days, and basically since I came back from Salzburg, I have meant to post a bit about [livejournal.com profile] yuletart. Have probably spammed the same favorites I had over and over again to different people on skype, but never did I actually remember to mention it here. Well consider this the day I change this! My Yuletart pic this year was from Pushing Daisies and I received a lovely Steampunk!DDS picture of Serph from [livejournal.com profile] mashimero. Here is a small selection of personal favorites from this year's lot (go check out the rest!):
A)ZOMBIES AND VIOLENCE! Two tastes that go well together (Left 4 Dead/Team Fortress 2)
B)Gorgeous pencil sketches of Morgana and The Fall (Merlin, The Fall)
C)Utterly fantastic craft-y knitting idea (Merlin)
D)STUNNING genderswap of the main four (Merlin) ...idek why I liked the Merlin stuff so much this year XDDD
E)Bonafide story-tale beauty (Merlin) [livejournal.com profile] nebst, you got some mad skills, lady ♥
F)SO CUTE, SO FUNNY, SO PERFECT (Star Trek)

ALSO!! Check out these FIERCE LADY GAGA BARBIE DOLL MODS ...the little costumes! GLORIOUS.
kaiserkuchen: (Ron! I feel this urge every single day)
Bits of 2009, the Nearly Done Now Edition:
...first off, I gotta say that I have given up the idea of posting any pics of Copenhagen or assorted summer things I meant to do, so uh. ADD ME ON FACEBOOK if you haven't already, it's all nice and sorted with ~genius~ commentary, even. OR APPROVE MY FRIEND REQUEST AHEM AHEM YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ;DD lol j/k take your time, dude ♥

That said, here be a commentated ~~List of Viennese restaurants~~ that Carmen and I (with assorted guest stars and other friends adding to our numbers randomly, of course) visited last year. I was talking to her about how things were waaaay back in the first semester when we weren't that close yet, and remembered that our friendship was basically built on lunch dates. Which we had weekly at the Coffee Day near the uni. Lolol oh how we've improved, to say the least!

VIENNESE NOMS 2009. Tried to add the restaurant links if possible for future refs and all that. )

AND IF YOU READ THROUGH ALL THAT, you now know why I hardly ever go clubbing: I spend all my money on food and eating out :Db And I DO NOT REGRET A THING ♥

...wow coding and typing this up took ages. THREE AM AGAIN, DAMN YOUUUUU.
kaiserkuchen: (TVD! Damon is Not Impressed)
My days here since Saturday evening have been lethargic and unproductive in RL-terms, though I just finished updating of my icons and did spend Sunday having delicious cookery funtimes with Miss Olga again (mmmh rice with tiny veggie bits, turkey breast and tomato sauce). NEXT TIME: Pictorial evidence! Not that it ends up like October 2009 again-- a month of awesome and being social, but with no pics to back it up lol. But! Carmen is also back today, and I was so excited to see her agaaaaaaain, and also welcome the fact that her presence means I get off my ass and do things like a normal, productive person. She brought me more homemade jam from her mom (plum and cinnamon this time ♥, am still having the best sandwiches ever with the blueberry, rum and vanilla one I got in December when Ines came) and some homemade cookies, too! Delightful ones dipped in chocolate with a walnut and orange marmalade filling and super cinnamon-y cinnamon stars with delicious icing. IT ALL SMELLS SO DAMN GOOD, I could happily just sit here and huff the bag like some crazy addict :D

One of the minor, but personally important things I need to focus on is getting my sleeping patterns back to normal again-- have fallen back to my first year at uni levels of bad habits. 4AM bedtimes and regaining consciousness at 11AM is not a good thing, and the rings under my eyes are approaching panda territory :/ I've managed to dial it back to 3AM last night though, and plan on going to bed at 2.30AM today. Slow increments! THE INTERNET BETTER NOT SUDDENLY BECOME INTERESTING NOW, OKAY.

Also, I managed to drag myself downstairs to check my mail (was too lazy before, for the usual stupid reasons) and lo and behold my mailbox held two glorious treasures:
TREASURE ONE: [livejournal.com profile] rainrockstar, thank you so much for the super cute gingerbread-men card! Their wee buttons! And I must say that I am tremendously jealous of your handwriting-- it look so classy and stylish!

TREASURE TWO: [livejournal.com profile] nebst, THE PACKAGE CAME!! OH MY GOD ♥. Thanks a milliooooooon, eee! I am super exited to try out the imps now, and have decided to start tomorrow when I am actually gonna be leaving the house and not just lounging 'round in my PJs all day. I just keep opening the little sachets and sniffing them happily :DD. I'll just email you after this post for your German address, eh? My bad for not sending my package off earlier, ahhh.

OH AND HERE BE: another year end meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] mcollinknight
MMH DELICIOUS WALL OF TEXT. I am so not done with recapping '09 yet lol )
kaiserkuchen: (STrek! I MAKE GOOD LIFE CHOICES)
Even though time continues to hurtle by at quite alarming an alarming speed, I am at least happy that things seem to be looking up now. Because I remain far too fond of this easy format, again I present a list of HAPPY:

__ I PASSED ABWL!!. Just about made it with a four (Carmen kicked my ass with a 3, but woo we are both through!), and hoooooooo fuck am I ever so relieved! This means that I can hand in my Freie Wahlfächer form early Jan, hope it gets approved in the three weeks it takes to process, and theeeen once my final last two seminar grades are in the system by what will hopefully be early Feb, submit my Bachelor's Degree application form thingamajiggers so that I can finally fucking GRADUATE already after the additional three weeks it will take for that to hopefully go through the system. Graduating university seemed so much more easier and full of pomp and ceremony in the American movies, lol. I guess it's still just true that no one here gives a flying fuck about Bachelor's Degrees, though I am not about to start my Masters just because part of me does kind of want a nice ceremony

__ [livejournal.com profile] jorajo!! I GOT YOUR CARD YESTERDAAAAY ♥!! Thank you so much Rhonda, I loved the adorable penguins~~~ Your signature is so loopy and cute, ahhh I AM ALL FULL OF FUZZY PENGUIN FEELINGS NOW. And ironically, I am still sitting on my large pile of mail for EVERYBODY EVERYWHERE, lol whoops?? EXPECT THEM TO BE SENT OFF MONDAY/TUESDAY OR SO. I hope. At least I can guarantee that it will be extra awesome mail? (Especially [livejournal.com profile] laulan, I am already curious how much the shipping will kill me, but PREPARE TO GET YOUR MIND BLOWN with this Chrismabirthday package ;DD)

More HAPPY within ♥ (Vampire Diaries, The Princess & The Frog )

ONE OF MANY TO COME END OF YEAR MEMES just for funsies )

Oh and THIS was pretty cool. A "gibberish rock song written by an Italian composer to sound like English". Interesting things about how language sounds to be heard here, and I for one really did think at times that it sounded understandable at times, but more in the nonsensical words in the trippiest lyrics ever way. A link for the language nerd in all of us!

PS OH WOW THIS ENTRY IS LIKE A GIANT WALL OF TEXT. But it felt good to type. So yeah. Feel free to TL;DR or something XDD

WHAT A DAY

Dec. 15th, 2009 03:25 am
kaiserkuchen: (Reborn! Rabu rabu Tenth!)
-COMPLETED ABWL EXAM. I can be social again, now that the crunchtime is over! Or tomorrow, when I wake up again. But back to the exam. Well. What to say about it? It would be lying to say otherwise: This was one of the most difficult tests I have ever written. Due in part to the pressure (IF I PASS: LAST UNI EXAM EVER) but also because I had no real concept of how to do a large part of the math in it. Still, there were bright points, most notably the fact that the BWZ people are lazy fucks and apparently like to reuse the same exam questions, so some of the answers I tried to halfheartedly memorize off the ~dubious answer sheets~ were actually featured. And drilling some simple formulas into my brain actually paid off. Made it even more embarrassing that I got really mixed up on some of the theory though, what the hell. Hope that won't be my undoing, hah! All in all, I still wouldn't be surprised to have failed, but oh how I hope that luck is on my side and that I made the correct guesses... I do not want to have to redo this exam, all the note-taking I actually ended up doing has got to have been the most physical writing I have done since forever. I am such a horrible uni student. ANOTHER REASON WHY GRAD SCHOOL WOULD BE SUCH A HORRIBLE IDEA FOR ME

-Carmen and I looked utterly fab, dressed to the nines even headed to our academic doom in the JESUS FUCK IT'S GETTING COLD of Viennese weather. Her: Kickass yet feminine leather jacket, roughly-knit dark red scarf, dark blue fitted v-neck sweater and her swank long-ish dark blue/green/white plaid skirt with boots. Moi: my awesome new indigo winter jacket, black shirtdress with silver/black sequined squiggle pattern, dark grey tweed shorts + grey stockings & boots.

-Early X'mas present exchange time! Swapped our gifts since we won't have much time together once her sister arrives on Wednesday and combined it with watching the Dexter S4 finale and the first four episodes of The Vampire Diaries. Will probably have to make another separate post tomorrow, but suffice to say HOLY SHITTTTTTT re: the former, and GODDAMN, THIS IS SO FUCKING ADDICTIVE to the latter. Damn you, vampire show that I actually wholeheartedly enjoy. True Blood doesn't really count, as I am really just interested in what Eric and his entourage are up to... ANYWAYS. So I had no idea what this giant rectangular thing wrapped in aluminum foil (in lieu of wrapping paper, wut) on Carmen's bed was, amidst little tiny gifts like hairbands, pudding and caviar(!) face masks, which made my mind even more blown when I opened it and saw: THE FUCKING COSMOPOLITAN MEN'S B&W CALENDAR FOR 2010!! LOOK AT THIS FUCKING PIECE OF ART. The size alone pretty much blows me away (71 x 49,2cm!!) and the men pictured are all just simply gorgeous. And naked. I don't know how much I have mentioned this on LJ, but it is pretty much something I have always done since I started uni here-- treating myself to a nice b&w male nude calendar every year. My uni friends are apparently at turns either delighted or vaguely weirded out at how enthusiastic I get about it, tss~~. This year's calendar was quite disappointing, which meant just using some old favorites as decoration, but now? I am extra-thrilled to hang this baby up in January ♥
And I was pretty happy that Carmen liked my present for her-- basically assembled a set of blue and nautical themed accessories (batik sky-blue scarf, turquoise+anchor earrings and matching bag keychain, blue & white glassbead flower earrings) as well as a pair of Nepalese and Indian bracelets snagged in Bangkok and the last of the fancypants Green tea I set aside. Buying presents for her is so satisfying, ahhh :D

.....is it nearly 3.30AM already? FUCK. Sleep calls! Man, I hope that when I wake up, Sabrina's male ~visitor~ will be gone. I knew there was a reason behind her cleaning the bathroom all hardcore like that a few days ago! Good thing I spent so long over at Carmen's room, ugh I remember the previous visits all too well. NOISE POLLUTION. They should go back to fucking at his place, ugh I despise them so :|
