SO THIS FRIDAY, I went to make my Thai passport with Ma. Were promptly served a number in the waiting room, got to a desk quite chop chop and thus set to fill out the various forms in Thai and English. All went well enough, except for the following two ..situations:

SHAZ: Huh what? Did I misspell my last name in thai again ahaha this happens all the- WAIT a minute, why are you pointing at my English name?

I mean, "SARON"? That isn't even a Thai name, if my uh, very western last name didn't hint at that already. "CHARON" I could have bought as an alternative, but "SARON" just seems one "U" away from ~*SAURON*~ to me.

Fucking hell, where did I get the notion I was taller? I liked being 179cms! Now I'm just ...on the large size of average, instead of being a short tall person. URGH. It is amazing how much I was actually at turns pissed off and really sad at this, lolol Dad kept making fun of meeee.

STATE OF THE EMERGENCY!!1 (CNN), SRSLY, PEOPLE (BBC). What can one say but uhhhhh :| wow. To paraphrase a CNN headline from a few days ago, BEFORE any violent clashes or whatever occured, Bangkok was apparently already 'crippled' by the protesters and um, that was just a lie. I mean, the PAD did pull some pretty risky and high level shit, notably the storming of the NBT (waaay to turn yourselves into a violent mob in the eyes of the public!), but their most effective and yes, 'crippling' shit was actually pulled outside Bangkok, what with the having managed to shortly shut down/block the Phuket/Krabi/Hat Yai airports and setting up those roadblocks to certain key highway points from BKK to some upcountry routes. Even if you just consider the math, there is not really a chance of 10,000 or even 35,000 or how many ever PAD protesters are camped out really making a bustling metropolis of 11 fucking million ground to a stop. Most of what's happening is focussed on the government house areas, places that IF you don't work or live there are easy enough or at least possible to avoid and gah. The economy is shit enough as it is without the added fallout from this, now with MOAR cancellations from tourists and etc.

I actually got an email from Tutor Georg, who was worried about my uh 'safety', which was totally sweet though ♥

Here's hoping for some kind of resolution to this shitstorm, though I really can't see something good coming out of it, as Samak is equally as much of an ass who cannot communicate as it seems that the PAD has now turned radical?? 's not like we have any new and awesome politicians lying it wait to takeover the power vacuum either, just the same old crowd over and over again. THAI POLITICS IN A NUTSHELL: THEY ALL SUCK (it just depends on the degree!).

I BET BATMAN WOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Ironic how the games are finally in a timezone that is currently A+ practical for me to watch, yet the most I do besides catching glimpses on the local news is halfheartedly scanning the Sports section of every day's Bangkok Post. Was rooting for Federer to rally up again after what seems to be a pretty harsh losing streak (compared to his admittedly extremely high standards) and reading that he's out of the tennis singles was kind of depressing. What a shit season this has been for him so far (even if EPIC Wimbledon final was EPIC)! And holy hell is Nadal in stunning form. I am torn between wanting him to win Gold now because I do like him, my ever burning love for Federer aside, and actually wanting some other dude to get it, so there at least isn't THAT great a gaping chasm between Nadal and Federer. There are even sports op-ed pieces I've read online that are asking if Federer's 'washed up' already... um, wtf?? How many years has he spent at the top? How skillful is his tennis game when he's in top form? Tss. Yes yes I know, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR AND ALL THAT. I seem to now be quite swamped! Thankfully with an amount that is easily pushed aside to at least next week, but still. The work, it LOOMS. I had another impromptu interview (this time: behind the scenes) to do at Sahamongkol Films, I lost a rousing battle of rock-paper-scissors with Bell, so I had to go interview Peter Manus, who is the director of this upcoming Thai film 'Burn (Khon look fai)'. Turns out that the guy, who looked quite scary on the google pics we managed to rustle up, was surprisingly friendly and super enthusiastic and eloquent! He also was the director of that Thai teen slasher flick that made Paula Taylor famous-- "999-9999 toh-tid-tai" and some western movie about ALIEN ANTS!!1 :D. We ended up doing the entire interview in English (since it was apparently his first language, his parents were both Thai and he grew up in the US) and I got to see some super-special footage from the film. I must say, I was sold! I had thought it was gonna be some hokey horror film about supernatural vengeance and Spontaneous Human Combustion, but it is more of a character driven piece that actually involves Shadowy Pharmaceutical Farang Companies!, Quests for TRUTH!, Characters reevaluating their previous glaring flaws!, all shot in this very pleasing and slick manner and starring Very Attractive People. Tak Bongkoch! KING NARESUAN (adult version, rowwr)! The only downside to this is now that I have 27 minutes to type up and cull for a really short interview wordcount. GAHH.

Since that interview led me all the way to Ari BTS station, I decided to try and kill two birds with one stone and look for the stupid fucking retarded helmet that the living editor was insisting I get for the Speedracer Lookalike article that was freaking finished 2 weeks ago. Thankfully BigC provided in the end, after some surprising duds at small local run motorcycle shops around Saphan Kwai (WHO SAYS NO TO FREE ADVERTISING?? MAI KAO JAIII), or I would have seriously lost my shit. SO HAH, HERE'S YOUR DAMN HELMET, STICK IT UP SOMEWHERE AND SMOKE IT. It was just so funny that when we started with the article she was all 'yeah, just do whatever' and then did a flip and kept repeating that IT WOULD NOT BE COMPLETE without it. Hmph! I also got a bit of a chewing out for not having archived the last two issues in the dinky binders we have lying around. BUT OH WELL. How should I know that this normally very non-urgent task suddenly gets upgraded to ass-kicking when someone suddenly needs!!1 something. It's not like there weren't always enough extra issues flying around the chaos of the office anyways.

I do get to do another living feature though, profiling this artsy cafe called Ubuntu tomorrow, so I must be doing something right. :>

PS Sven is in town now with his (quite TALL and maybe even HOT) buddy, so lunch was had with them, Chris and Bell. Good times~

I shouldn't have waited to post until now, because the pure joy of actually getting a 2(!!) in my international Marketing final grade has now been diluted by Michi's sheer pigheadedness. MY GOD I 'BEAT' YOU ONCE AND YOU JUST CAN'T ACCEPT IT CAN YOU?? We had a small difference in the midterm scores that widened with the final exam, which lead to a TEN points difference-- and I don't think it's such a mental stretch to imagine that being the deciding factor between two grades. BUT IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE I GUESS.

Why can't he just be happy for one?
Gahhh and he is ALWAYS like this will all grades ever. This makes me an extremely spiteful person for saying this, but I almost hope that he flunks something this round or just gets 4er, just to see what outside reasons he is going to attribute it to this time. ...normally, I would say I am a happening gal! I know what's what and use my brain to the best of my capabilities. BUT it seems that the moment I have to have anything to do with the Thai Embassy and requesting my visa, a tiny trap-door opens in the back of my mind and everybody evacuates.

__ went to the Embassy without complete data to fill out the request forms (two weeks ago)

__ went to the Embassy on a Thai public holiday (yesterday)

Carmen's baaaack! And with a spiffy new 'do... bangs! Shoulder length hair! Heh, it really looks good on her and I do admit that part of me was then thinking 'MOO HA HA now I reign supreme in the long-hair competition ~~that only lurks in my own head yeaah~~'. We also veered right back to our staple of weird heimphone conversations and online link sending, and had a very interesting discussion about looking up suspicious things about sexual practices on wikipedia, learning how to rightly fear looking at encylopedia dramatica entry images sometimes (I WILL NEVER FORGET GURO-CHAN EWW) and how some things are just plain gross to actually do in RL (scat! watersports! fisting! ...and teabagging! Which I still can't believe you can have that as a Superpoke! on Facebook whut).
Lol and at one point we were both kinda going 'wow isn't this great that we can actually talk about this because we are both too curious on the internets for our own good :D :D :D' ...am sure that Michi or Nathalie would be more than vaguely appalled at the subject matter though XDD

Have surprisingly spent the last two or so days listening to some German music and watching German movies and uh, Pro7 reality TV(I LOVE GERMANY'S NEXT TOP MODEL OKAYYYY XDD Gina Lisa is actually awesome :Db).

I dig the cinematography! ...heyyy the actual love story that starts out cute is kind of creepy and co-dependent and unbalanced and the situation-comedy is hitting on all my embarrassment squicks ugh ugh erghh :|' All in all, an okay movie, but I don't really get why so many people seem to rabidly love it so much?

I say: 'WATCH THIS NOW, the entire movie is ON YOUTUBE, do eeeeet. Wow. Just a lovely and funny coming-of-age and coming-out movie and Robert Stadlober really is working it in this role as the main dude, even if I normally stare at his face with a mixture of revulsion and fascination. He just. Seems really weird. BUT that aside, wow the rest of the cast is great, too. Solidly written and filmed (the muuuuuusic!). Loved the boys who play Leo(hottt), Schorschi(lolll o Georg your role in this movie was great), Malte and Achim XD'

__ "Ein Freund von mir". IMDB summary says: '...nothing. Dammit. So here be the keywords instead: Car driving/Friendship/Friendship between men/Porsche/Love triangle/'. I say: 'Clemens really loves this movie, and gave me a copy of the movie to watch in the easter hols. And I must say, I can see where he's coming from about this one. It's kind of a mellow, yet really touching and all round well-made buddy movie that at the same time is also about finding who you really are and overcoming personal crises. Daniel Brühl (I really need to rewatch 'Goodbye Lenin!' again)is interesting to look at in this movie, you can really see his turmoil in his eyes or something like that. Well, I kept staring in rapt fascination anyways XD. Also there are fast cars and nice cars and that's probably why it's popular with guys, too. And Jürgen Vogel seems to be a big draw as well?

Clicking through wikipedia articles about recent german movies reminded me of 'Sonnenallee' that Michi and I recently rewatched at Joachim's place and the song that featured in the ending credits. 'Sonnenallee' itself really seemed so much funnier when we watched it in school, but ah well. This song is just really catchy (MICHAAAA) and it's always kind of a head trip to see Nina Hagen looking relatively normal, lol.

INTERNET!

Have been BUSY like all fuck ever since I came here way back in the early days of feb, first with getting STEP3 DONE and then random running around and then Carmen and the boys already arrived aaaaaand then stuff really started happening. We have been intensely productive so far, seen oodles of things and eaten enormous amounts of food...

and no, I do not want to kill my friends (YET).

Tomorrow we'll be heading to Pai in Maehongson province for a day, here's hoping it'll be fun! ONE DAY I SHALL CATCH UP AND MAKE A FULL POST ISH THING.

IN LIKE ...a day! 13.30 tomorrow to be precise, and arrrrgh I am still a fucking DUMBASS, because instead of getting all my work done, I have yet to finish the remaining SERIOUS BUSINESS IMPORTANT STEP3 stuff. GG ME!! >_>;; So now I have a gazillion copies that I will be schlepping on the flight and trying to use the 10 hours of the flight to be productive. Here's hoping~~

Plus minus a heck of a lot of filler, I have at least reached 1000 words of my STEP3 already! HUZZAH for a paltry third! I will just ignore the fact that of this whole day I have only spent about 1 1/2 hours at most working. JUST EXISTING ALREADY TAKES UP SO MUCH TIME OKAY :|

Have the looming specter of the KPOL exam to contend with too, even if Michi was nice enough to pass on the fabled Sabine Bauer notes. She takes some seriously good notes for exam-cramming, and may the gods smile down on her for letting them loose in the internets ♥

The weekend was quite awesome, due to monsieur Sven and his merry band of dudes (amongst which is Hodge, the one they were all visiting, who lives in this sweet ass house up in the posh bits of the nineteenth district AKA where all the damn embassies/consulates are). Saturday evening was spent clubbing and I even got to see him for a bit again yesterday before he flew back to Maaaaaastricht :D
